  1. Not at all.  I say the only thing you can believe from the media is the time and date......  They are biased, write about the worst things with a view that it will make more money, decry people, set out to ruin people's lives and try to turn people against each other.  They use the worst photo's of people in an attempt to show them in a poor light and make up stories in order to sell more.

  2. Not at all - they need ratings too - a lot of things are sensationalized.  I like to get as many facts on a news item that interests me and make my own conclusion instead of taking someone elses.  I do believe that Fox news is the most accurate whereas the others tend to lean to the left or the right

  3. I don't believe the media. Not because they lie and add things to create ratings. But because there are so many stories and articles of scandal, bad things being done by the government, etc. and if a reporter tries to report things like this, they are silenced. Either by being told not to publish their facts, threatened to be fired or threatened to be killed.

And always with life.... there are 2 sides to every story.

  4. No I don't.

There is a lot written (for press or TV) that has a fragment of realism...an article or programme is often built around the flimsiest of facts. Sensationalism takes precedence over serious honest (because, sometimes boring) journalism

    Sad..but true

Ps America is still the chief offender for mishandling news...in my view.

  5. No, a large proportion of the media is lies, speculation, where the media is there to tell people the facts, not what people THINK!

  6. Years of asking myself this same fundemental question, and having been brought up in a newsagents shop with access to all the papers I have come to this conclusion-

DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD OF THE MEDIA!

Over 80% of news sources come from two organisations Reuters and UPI, this means the raw material for news stories is the same for all media formats, they then "spice it up" for their readers or viewers, this is called journalistic licence or more accurately fabrication.

All news in the UK is influenced by the Government, thats why the atrocities in China are not reported, all Muslims are terrorists, we are awash with illegal immigrants, bird flu will get us all in the end and politicians don't fiddle their expenses!

Keep asking this question throughout your school time and life, believe nothing you read or hear and only 50% of what you see.You have an amazing organ between your ears, never be satisfied with other peoples truths, only your own and don't take any of it too seriously!

    Good luck and God bless.

  7. yes we seem to not realise that its just written by people and not demi-gods. We take what they say far too seriously. If that werent the case then we wouldnt see ppl wearing fashions that clearly dont suit them and following them religiously even when that cant afford it.

Its like we trust them more than our own thoughts.

  8. Only the I trust the sources.

    Take this for example

  9. I think we have to bear in mind that newspapers all want to sell the best story - even if it is a little far from the truth.

Plus, each paper has their audience - The Sun is for working class, The Telegraph for middle class - so they have stories to appeal to different people.  Just look at the front page and note who writes what.

Also, all media sources have their 'mates' who are higher up.  It'll be interesting to see what political party they support, any politicians who write an article for them, who donates what - its never as simple as telling the news!

  10. "The media" comprise thousands of voices.  For every opinion you can easily find the polar opposite.  It's impossible to believe everything the media say, unless, like Oprah and Hillary Clinton, you believe that truth doesn't matter.

Critical thinking is the most valuable skill you can learn.

  11. No for the simple reason that not everything reported in the newspapers or on TV is fact.A famous newspaper man C.P Scott once said that “comment is free but facts are sacred.” Not all journalists follow this golden rule. Not all newspapers are really that interested in news at all preferring showbiz gossip and sensationalism on the basis that their readers want it.Othere are slightly better but definitely have a point of view to put and word their headlines accordingly. It is sometimes very difficult to see how some ‘stories’ justify a particular headline.

  12. No, the media is liberal............................ being a liberal is not all that it is cracked up to be

  13. Opinion is not fact.

  14. No.

Newspapers are biased, you have to read a range of them to get a better picture of what is going on.

The media also plays on peoples fears (Daily Mail is a good example of this).

You have to take what you hear/see/read in the media with a pinch of salt

  15. i think the media is news mixed w/facts & opinions...thts why we have heard the saying: dont always believe what u hear
