Meaning like news and stuff.

I've heard from various sources that the media in the UK is controlled by the the UK goverment which explains a lot of things. For example: the BBC is controlled by the Labour party and is anti-Conservative. The BBC is probably the worst for twisting different stories. Sky News isn't quite so bad. The daily mail is questionable the Sun is Pro-Labour. Sometimes I watch the BBC news, not to find out what has been happening in the world, But to find out how they put it.

With stuff like the figures for UK immigration I'm not sure who was to blame for that but I would be tempted to blame the government and the media. The media in the UK is part of the National Union of Journalists meaning that they can only report what the goverment wants the people to know and not what they don't want the people to know. But anyway back to the question.

Do you believe what the media reports?

  1. You can only trust the media so far, especially if it come to politics.

  2. The primary fallacy about the news media is that it says anything at all.

The news media covers individuals and incidents for the public.  The news media reports what leaders are saying and institutions are reporting.

The president, police chief, mayor, parent, etc. makes the statement and this is reported by the news media.  Video is captured and journalists explain what they see and what officials say is happening.

Quite often I do not believe what the president, police chief, mayor, etc. is saying.  But that is not the news media misreporting, that is normal human behavior -- some people lie and put their own spin on situations.

If we were in a simple village, we would have a good guess at who is telling us a lie or covering up something.   The situation is not altered due to the news media -- people are still responsible for holding news makers accountable for telling the truth.

The news media does not lie -- the characters who use the media tell the fibs -- and reporters rarely act like they swallow the official pronouncements.

  3. I listen to the media outlets from both the left and right and only believe the things the two agree on.
