The fact is, science doesn't understand why these natural climate variations occur, and can not reliably distinguish between natural and possible human influences on global temperatures. So, if scientists have no other natural explanation for a warming trend, they tend to assume that it is manmade.

Of course they do.  That's how the greenhouse effect works.  If greenhouse gases didn't cause global warming, the planet would be 33 degrees C colder than it is.

Actually they can. C02 levels and temperature levels are dependent. C02 levels have never gone beyond a concentration of 300. Not ever. However now c02 concentrations are way above the 400 mark. (graph is from 2003?)http://farm1.static.flickr.com/136/31822...
