  1. It will be a political resolution. Georgian President is very obnoxious and is not respected by many Georgians. He acts out of his own ambitions. There is no common sense there. It is doubtful that the U.S. will go too far because of Georgia.

  2. It is not a conflict between Russia and Georgia. It is a civil war in Georgia. Southern Osetia wants independence. Russia supports it. Why then USA does not want to support independence of Southern Osetia? USA is for freedom of people right!? Free Kosovo, remember? Georgia did not attack Russia. Georgia attacks Southern Osetia. It happened that Russians had troops overthere to keep peace, but it did not help

  3. You mean if US actually sends troops to fight Osetia?

What they already did was for months supplying Georgia with all the firearms/weapons, and what happened was that just before the 2008 Olympic Games it was Georgia who first assaulted the Osetian territory.

Since there is of coarse Russia on the other side, it's obvious US is actaully started this war already, and we are at the Canadian/US media mercy to find out only about Russian/Osetian airforce bombing the Georgian territory but nothing being said about Georgia (read US) starting it first.

In other words, it's already begun...

  4. I am trying to remember when we went to war with Russia? Maybe you mean the cold war.  But to try to give you an answer.

I think we will lay low on this one. We really do have our own problems to deal with right now. Besides,we are out of money. If our Commander in Chief would order any kind of attack, I think the cooler heads in our military would tell him to pound sand.

  5. What do you mean another?  Except for a limited period during the Russian Revolution we were never in a shooting war with Russia.  And that wasn't technically Russia, just shooting one group of people vying to be Russia.

  6. I hope our government has enough sense to stay out of it.  We should not have to fix everyone elses problems.  Enough is enough.  Now if it was ATLANTA, Georgia it would be a different thing!

  7. If it's the Athens area it would start trouble too.

  8. I hope we do Georgia is being push around by big Russia how ould you feel if a hugh football player was pushing arond you little brother its not a good comparision but it get my message i hope the EU and NATO deploy forces and tell Russia Europe and the US won't take their c**p....

  9. I've been pondering this myself.

My husband is a soldier. When he was in Iraq he worked with a number of Georgian soldiers. There are 2000 there currently.

Georgia is part of the 'coalition of the willing' that we formed when the big guns wouldn't help us in Iraq.

You obviously know of our history with Russia, although we've acheived some level of stability with them since Regan.

We can't exactly defend Kuwait and then let Georgia fend for itself, especially since they've helped us when few others would.

I think we'll avoid a war with Russia at all costs, particularly considering China's influence in all of this. We don't want to start a war with China and Russia.

Aren't you glad our troops are tied up in Iraq?
