Do you believe in Global Warming? Did we cause it? Can we stop it? What will happen if we don't?

I know some people think global warming is just stupid.. I think its true. I was just wondering about everyones opinions. Why do you think its fake? Why do you think its real? You may think its real just humans had nothing to do with it? Do you think humans can make it all better? What will happen if we don't?

Those are just some questions to wonder about. Tell me what you think. =)

ok global warming is a crock o **** it has no physical proof ya it has warmed up 1 degree in 150 years but ya.even if the earth is heating we havent caused it.we are nats isthe earth wanted us gone it woulld kill us.and look when the vikings sailed to greenland it was actually green :O omg amazing hotter hundreds of years ago.also they are bannin incondecent light bulbs in 2012.also nothin we could do anyway if it was real.its just brainwashing

Global warming is an ongoing cyclical event that evolves over tens of thousands of years. Man's 'industrial revolution' of these past 150 years, however, has accelerated the natural cycle, which has caused dramatic climatic changes that will certainly impact on the planet if we don't do something to change it within the next decade.

Man's vehicle emissions, pollution, waste, decimation of rain forests, over fishing of oceans, oil exploration, mining, and interference with the natural order of the planet has caused havoc, which means that man, plants and animals now don't have time to adapt to the coming climate changes. If we don't 'make it better' very soon, our great-grandchildren will be wearing gas masks in order to breathe fresh air. They won't have sufficient drinking water. Hurricanes and other weather-related traumas will become more intensified, destroying coast lines along both major oceans. The devastation is unimaginable. Yes, we can 'make it all better', but we have to commit to doing it TODAY. Tomorrow will be too late.  -RKO-  01/14/08

Yes, I do believe in global warming, I think its a reasonable theory. And yes, humans made it happen by using fuel and creating pollution which built up the o-zone layer,  amking the heat and suns rays trapped in. And we can help by recycling, using solar powers, etc. But I'm not sure if we can completely heal it... And if we dont then Antartica will become a lot warmer, as well as the rest of the world, and animals could die from the melting ice. Hope I answered your Questions! =)

I think that global warming (climate change) is a real issue that should be a concern to us all now and is only going to get worse, rapidly.

However, I think that people are getting confused by the expanding population, the planets inability to support us, the wiping out of the fish stock, the extinction of flora and fauna, coral bleaching, expanding desert, arctic ice melting, third world debt, poverty and starvation, illeagal logging, multi drug resistant TB, and all the other issues facing humanity and then pushing them all together and labeling it as "global warming". Some of these issues are a result of climate change (global warming) and some are the result of over 6.5 BILLION people destroying the environment.

And then they see the problem as to big to start fixing, so, therefore there is no point to do anything about it as no one else is, etc. However all these issues can be broken down and we ,collectively, could go someway to solving them.     However, unfortunately, we are human and historically, when ever there has been a time to band together for the good of all, we have choose to bomb, kill, invade, and attack and take what ever we wanted from our neighbors. *Sigh*.

   So, yes I feel that global warming is man made but I am rapidly changing my opinion about if we can do anything to stop or slow its progress. If, as they say, the Arctic will be ice free in 5 years then the Europe that we know today will cease to exist in a decade. The Planet will be thrown into chaos with mass migration, panic, and starvation on a scale never before seen.  The deniers and skeptics are constanly saying it is a hoax and doesnt exist but what if the opposite was true?  'What if' the future is so bleak  and no one wants us to know to prevent the chaos that would surely follow?? I am just saying "what if" but it makes you think...

well if you are serious about this topic you'll do your won research and then consider the source.  there are alot of intitutions and companies as well elitist socialites who spew inaccuracies about this. ie al gore... as it turns out, alot of the information about this is out there. are they invested in "green" technologies? do they have huge government contracts?  in fact there is just as much evidence to say that we aren't the cause as there is that says we aren't.  ALL weather on the planet is cyclical.  the solar cycle, which is about a 12 year cycle, will peak in 2012.  funny how all the nut jobs blame all weather on global warming! remember all those hurricanes that hit florida a few years ago? global warming... they said the next couple of years would be even worse. really? that certainly didn't happen. it just snowed in baghdad a few days ago for the first time in over a hundred years. record lows were set all across the country already this winter.. it's global warming! fact of the matter is, the instruments that measure air temps have become more accurate over the past fifty years and this is only one example of why there could be an increase. did you know that in the 1970's there was a global cooling "crisis"? they wanted to put big black plastic tarps on the ice caps to heat up the earth! i have given two links below for you to consider. the first link takes you to a global warming page with over 250 other links that are from places like NASA and NOAA. the second link shows how the link between co2 emmissions and global warming just don't add up.  oh yeah, i suppose that all of our SUV's and carbon emmisions are causing the ice caps on mars to melt as well!  this is all a big scare to give the govenment more power and money to control us!! don't believe the hype!

Global Warming is true, there are Natural fazes but we are affecting that to a great extent ,with deforestation ,desertification and pollution., especially air pollution.

A few weeks ago one of NASA's top scientists concluded that the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free within five years, much faster than all previous predictions.

when the north pole is gone , you may have polar bears soon in America ,looking for a home ,

Calculations do not include the accumulative ,speeding up ,factor with time. the increase in water temperature will get faster all the time as well as the melting, when the ice is all gone the deeper cold Ocean currents will stop ,and the drag has gone with it ,also changing the higher warm currents,And only the moon will keep things moving

This will affect coastal climates ,world wide ,almost instantly. All aquatic flora and fauna will be affected,many dying off and others becoming invasive,

And recently In Chiapas ,and Tabasco in Mexico .more then a million people became homeless overnight with water coming up to their roofs ,because of rains from super evaporation from the forests,this had never happened before. Millions of animals died.

In India 3000 people died because of super storms .

.A few years ago in Europe 3500 people,died during a heat wave ,many of them in France .

Right now the average death toll annually is 150.000 due to Global warming

. these figures are already out of date and are expected to double soon.

In Northern China millions of people are running for their lives because regular dust storms so far have buried 900 villages under the sand and the whole of northern China is turning into a dessert.

The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year all around the edges ,like a slow burning fire shriveling up their neighbors In the Kalahari huge rivers have dried up and thousand of species are gone due to their habitats disappearing .

The biggest changes are invisible at micro biotic levels species are becoming extinct ,others are multiplying ,

This affects the insect populations that follow ,and changes in that ,affect all that follows in the food chains ,

All life is interrelated of both flora and fauna, And since we are on the top of the food chain ,

we are always the last to know.

So Global warming has its toll there are incidents all over the world ,

However

confusion rules the day ,i am beginning to think that SCIENCE HAS BEEN INVADED WITH POLITICS AND HUMAN EMOTIONS

The truth is being distorted at high levels,

And lies have been weaved in.

Some of the real dangers are being hidden because there are no solutions , Public could panic.and Authorities would loose control .

Besides Corporations have other priorities and changes will cause loss of profits ,this also affects the truths being published

Others facts are exaggerated so that the phenomena can be used to milk the people.

This is further complicated with Arrogance that will not admit that mankind could be guilty, or that Gods could be out of control ,unloving or incompetent

But I do not think we can make a real difference anymore to change the tide.

On a Global scale,Humanity is not co operative enough .

The poor regions have other priorities such as daily survival.

There is a lot we can do about being more responsible with what we got ,

In the first world countries many do not care or are more interested in Global Control than Global Warming.

I think it is starting to get colder I really do.

1998 was the warmest year we had in a long time. Probability says that if the world was to continue getting warmer the years after 1998 would get warmer but it seems they are slowly starting to get colder.

Real scientists know that there is global warming and global cooling so to speak.  We do not cause it.  The only thing people can do about it is to stop building houses on fault lines, flood plains and sources of erosion.  The wise man builds his house upon the rock.  The foolish man builds his house upon the sand.  It may be an old kids song, but it still makes sense.  Anything  humans do to try to change the climate will only cause something else to happen.  It could be worse than what is happening.

Expect some who answer to spout political propaganda....we are a nation of sheep....or a world of sheep or whatever.

It won't be a Hollywood movie style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

Most scientists say, in 20-50 years. But we need to start right now to fix it, fixing it will take even longer than that.

some believe its a natural cycle and others thing we caused it.  both true

the earth naturally cools and warms over very long periods of time, giving the earth ice ages every now and then.  we are simply just speeding up the cycle, like very fast.  dont know exactly how but warming up the earth faster will bring it to the next ice age more quickly
