I think Nietzsche's ubermensch is an idea to which we ought to strive for. Nietzsche says that man will be to the ubermesch as the ape was to man. The man who says yes to life, who no longer associates himself with ideas of the afterlife or religion, a man of intelligence, affirmation, willingness, motivation, etc... The ubermensch is not an evolutionary goal but Nietzsche's ideal spirit of man we must aspire to.
