  1. Well, since "The Exorcist" is based on a true story except it was a boy, not a girl, I'd say it is possible. However, most Psychologists believe that instances on "demon possession" are instances of psychotic breaks.

But what do they know. Most of the "real" scientists that I know don't consider psychology a science.

  2. Well the story of the  Exorcist, was a true story (with some changes, I am sure)  about a 12 yr old boy.  The young Priest that helped, now has a church in a small town in NV.

  3. I'm thinking actress in movie as in not real.Forms of mental illness in the past, were considered possession. The work of demons and other imaginary evil-doers.Here in the 21st century most of us know better. Some still cling to our superstitious past.I have no idea why.

I think it's far worse telling 14 year old kids Ghosts are real. You may believe in such nonsense, who cares.I think TR does a service telling young naive kids there's no such thing as the boogey-man.Something people like you would have them believe.

  4. Yes I do. It's demonic possession. Not paranormal.

Some great books on the subject:

Hostage to the Devil, by Fr. Malachy Martin

They Shall Expel Demons, by Derek Prince

Deliverance from Evil Spirits, by Francis McNutt

Interview with an Exorcist, by Fr. Jose Fortea

An Exorcist Tells his Story, by Fr. Gabriel Amorth

One of my favorites is written by a non believer. He's never seen a demon. He does not believe in demons. But he believes in the process of deliverance and exorcism. He's seen much good come from it.

    American Exorcism by Michael Cuneo

The Actual story The Exorcist was based on can be found in a book called "Possessed" by Thomas Allen.

Edit: I don't understand the tantrums being thrown over an alternate point of view. Everyone has a right to their opinion and ever opinion is valuable. Like it or not.

To the individual who said mental illness was once thought of as possession - you should know that's a falsehood. At least in the Catholic church. Even the early church fathers understood the difference between mental illness and possession. Even before mental illness was a diagnosed illness. Some of the earliest writings ON possession hammer home the necessity of determining a "natural imbalance of the mind" vs actual possession.

  5. No we have control over things like this.

  6. Since you asked this in the Science & Math category, I'll respond with a scientific viewpoint.

No, I don't believe in it. There is no scientific evidence that a person may be "possessed" by a spirit entity. In fact, there is no scientific evidence for spirit entities to begin with. It's just movie entertainment.

  7. Well I once had my pet Guinea Pig possessed.

I had him exercised but he couldn't handle the workout and he just drop dead on me.

    True story.

  8. My belief is that it is more likely Djinn or 'bad human spirits' rather than actual Demon; there is a misconception in the Church about "evil" and "demonic" behavior.

Demons (the REAL ones) have no need to "possess" a body; they can manifest their own.

  9. The concept of spiritual possession exists in many contemporary religions and can also be seen in the mythology and folklore of many cultures-In 1966, a group of investigators were called into a lawyer's office to investigate a series of electrical disturbances after engineers were unable to find the cause. The investigation team identified 19 year old Annemarie Schneider to be the focus of the problem. The disturbances would start at 7:30am, exactly when she showed up each morning. When Annemarie took her Christmas break the activity stopped, her employers fed up had to let her go, and the activity continued to follow Annemarie from job to job. In the office, lamps swung as she walked past, telephones were spontaneously dialled at lightning speed, a heavy oak cabinet moved (the same cabinet took two police men to move it back where it belonged), drawers shot out of desks, lightbulbs exploded and pictures crashed to the floor.

  10. No. The paranormal does not exist.

  11. The only paranormal possession that occurs happens when you go into the New Age section of your local bookstore and buy a book.

The paranormal fraud whom wrote or published the book is now in possession of your money and no exorcism will bring it back.

  12. One of our investigations we came across a sensitive who apparently became possessed right before our eyes. I personally am not 100% convinced of this activity being true but who knows!! You can see the videos on our website unseenforces.org.
