Loch Ness is definitely not "miles deep". It's actually 230 meters (or 754 feet) deep. That's pretty deep, but it's only about one-seventh of a mile.

Whether I believe in the Loch Ness monster or not is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is whether an unknown creature exists or not. The beliefs of anyone will not alter that reality.

It's clear to me that there are a lot of people who are fascinated by the weird because their normal everyday life is so boring for them. It's also clear that there are others who will cynically exploit such bored people by making a career out of promoting myths.

So I suppose that makes everyone happy.

Yeah, but not just because I'm Scottish, but also because I'm a big fan of cryptology. The Loch really is miles deep, so who's to say that Nessie doesn't live down there somewhere. :]
