  1. Yes, absolutely. Sometimes you have to be as there is no other way.

  2. Yes, sometimes you just have to be.

  3. Yep,honesty is the best policy!

  4. well not really...

    but some think so

    Cruel To Be Kind

    ♫Oh, I can't take another heartache,

Though you say you're my friend, I'm at my wits' end!

You say you're love is bona fide,

But that don't coincide with the things that you do

And when I ask you to be nice, you say

    You've gotta be

Cruel to be kind in the right measure,

Cruel to be kind it's a very good sign,

Cruel to be kind means that I love you,

Baby, you've gotta be cruel to be kind.

Well I do my best to understand dear,

But you still mystify, and I want to know why.

I pick myself up off the ground

To have you knock me back down again and again!

And when I ask you to explain, you say

    You've gotta be

Cruel to be kind in the right measure,

Cruel to be kind it's a very good sign,

Cruel to be kind means that I love you,

Baby, you've gotta be cruel to be kind.

  5. Yes I do. A little bit of cruelty applied early on will often work wonders.

For example, consider the teenage kid with a long list of criminal offences to his name. If he carries on like that he's going to end up in jail. But if his parents had punished him at the outset and made it clear to him that such behaviour was unacceptable, he would probably have changed his ways.

Being cruel to be kind isn't really being cruel, is it?

  6. Sometimes, and I think the best reference I can think of comes from the Butterfly Effect. He decides that her living with her mother would be best for her, but she would have to leave him and she didn't want to. He had to threaten her so her life would be better. Cruel, but in the end, the best choice.

  7. Sometimes, yes

  8. Not if applied to babies. When a young baby cries I don't think it should be ignored. The 'cry it out' philosophy says that a baby will usually give up crying  if no one responds - true but baby has just learnt that it can't communicate - which isn't great is it?

  9. yes,i do if you think it would work..

  10. Try not to guess I am a wimp lol

  11. this is a question which few of us can give examples of but would generally agree with.

a poor example may be that of which was shown in a film and a book.

A gentleman had inherited many millions of dollars but in order to have It all he had to spend a large sum by a short but exact timescale. it was called Brewster's millions. while a comedy it was based on the premise that it would be wasted and not appreciated if you had too much all at once so by having a large 'overdose' it would have the effect of like smoking to begin with, make you sick of it all. thus not turning into a spendthrift and assuming a more responsible role with regard to  using the vast wealth.

  12. There is a time, place and circumstance for everything! If the person that is using this saying is a rational human being, they will know when it is relevant. I do agree with it, when used appropriatley.
