"Slow and steady wins the race?"

Personally, I don't. I don't think that in real life, you can be so slow and still manage to beat the other person. But, I've met a lot of people that have argued with me over. Most of them point out that being steady is the best way to go. I don't know, I just don't believe it works like that.....

Sun, Rising and Moon signs please.

I'd love to hear opinions. Thanks.

  1. The saying "slow and steady wins the race" doesn't really refer to speed of anything at all. Of course if you're faster you're going to win the race over the slower person. Slow stands as a figurative way of saying that hard-working, well-thought out plans and ideas will triumph over irrational, hasty ones. Would you want something as important as your car take longer to manufacture, but is well designed and planned out or would you rather you get it immediately although it is hastily made so that when you finally get to test it your engine falls apart? Overall, it means you can't take shortcuts in life because in the end the slow yet thoroughly executed routes will always lead to victory... Hahahaha that was corny.

  2. Fast and steady has more probability to win that race...

  3. That is a typical "Earth sign" quote.

  4. I believe in it. Only if you have the will and the power to keep on and never fall back you will succeed. Sometimes things happen easy, but when one should put more effort I've seen a lot of my acquaintances give up. But I am such a stubborn that I keep on and I finally receive what I have worked for so hard :)

  5. Slow and steady will eventually lead to "this is taking eternity, I wanna give up!" so no I don't believe in it either. I believe in a steady mind set on goals but going at it at a normal pace will always beat the slower and the faster who will often make mistakes.

  6. No, I do believe in this saying. I don't think it necessarily applies to how fast you run, or how fast you can get things done....But look at it this way: If you use all of your energy at once, you may get a lot done at first, but eventually you'll burn out. There'd be no more fuel in you, and you can only go so far by going fast. Slow and steady people are stable and set in what they want. They get better and better slowly over time, and since they are moving at a slow pace, they are able to keep up with the work without tiring out. Maybe in the beginning stages it seems that the fast one has beaten the other out, but take a look at the future. The slow and steady person is still at it, and only improving, while the fast person has already lost their prime and has no will to continue.

  7. Hey whisper..yeah i agree with you on that..I'm more of the ..I HAVE TO DO IT NOW type of person...you know...still beat em right?

  8. Not so much. Phelps was neither when he won his 7th.

Pisces Sun. Virgo Moon. Taurus Rising.

  9. When it comes down to the zodiac I believe first: there are two sides to every horoscope sign whether it be male or female. I've seen and know people who act one way or the other with my on eyes. And two environment: how one is raised or see the world has a play into their personality  as well. No one sign can completely describe a person but, you can't deny that if weren't real nor true in one way or another the ideal wouldn't still be around. Hope this helps:)

  10. It depends on the length of the race! Of course if the race requires a sprinter then slow and steady is not going to win or even be noticed for that matter but if the race is a long one- or a series of them then a slow and steady person (who shows the signs of tenacity and focus) has an edge because they are planned people to the extreme- they already considered the path, where they will get tired, they brought back up supplies, etc!  They are also dead set on finishing.

My mom is a Capricorn and she is all of the things a slow and steady person is....you don't even know or notice her "plans" are in motion unless you mistakenly get in the way of her path- she is like a moving stone wall- thus the deserved earth sign description- ha!

  11. "Slow and steady wins the race" he/she should! beign fast and not steady is straight to loose everything (i don't like that path makes me to loose control) no one can beat someone who steadily planned its victory

  12. Hi, sayings are just that, sayings, they are generally just a common-sense observation culled into a witty and memorable saying.

I think that the one you cite has its merits (there other versions of it e.g. 'the race is not always to the swift.)  in that being 'slow and steady' implies care taken/confidence and should therefore produce a better result than if one were in a hurry and or sloppy.

Like other things in life sayings can have opposites:

take the saying: Look before you leap.

its opposite is: He who hesitates is lost.

So which of those would you believe?

    Good Luck.

  13. I don't think being slow is always the way to go.

  14. i agree with "dead man walkin" ...it actually is the fast and steady who win the races these days ....atleast in the human woirld ..can't say about the world of rabbits and turtles !!!

  15. I agree with it! Slow, because rushing things is not always productive, and steady, you dont want to keep changing courses...
