Do you believe in wishing on stars?

I've wished on stars since I was 4 years old and wanted that huge barbie doll house. From the time my dog passed away to the time my second dog had to go to surgery, stars have been a symbol of hope. I've believed that wishing on stars is a great way to help, not because the wish might come true, but because it gives you a surreal feeling of hope, that something you want to happen so badly might be a possibility. Maybe it's just me... do you believe in wishing on stars? What do you wish for?

  1. Not really but I go for the wish anyway. It makes me feel magical like a kid from a disney movie

  2. If I see a shooting star, I ALWAYS wish on them. Even if I bearly caught a glimpse of it.

Right now I'm only wishing for one thing....

I've been married for 2 years now and my husband and I have been trying for a year now to get pregnant...with no luck.

I would give anything for a baby. It would complete me. It's the only thing missing from my life... we've tried medications and tests... now it's all up to the stars...

  3. No.

  4. i DEFINITELY wish on stars, especially shooting stars.  I wish for love, hope, peace, money, and the end of american government hypocrisy.

  5. I've found throughout experiences that the only thing listening to our wishes is us.... sometimes thing turn out the way we want so we say the wish came true. When we don't, we just say that other people's wishes got granted and justify why nothing happened. So stars are a *symbol* of hope and that wishes will come true, but they have no capability of performing miracles. We are the only way we can make our wishes come true. Relying on ourselves to fulfill our dream is more reliable than wishing on stars light years away.

I'm sorry you lost your dog. :( I know its hard. I love dogs and last year two of them passed away. Both had to be put down... poor things. I created my own little memorial for them... my animals mean so much to me. There is this HUGE rock in the backyard of my house by a tree I sit at almost every night and look up into the night sky. It takes a while, but I carve the initials of the animal on the rock. So when I ponder upon the origin of the universe a symbol of my loving animals lie by my side... as content as they were when they were alive.

Your right... wishing is a way of obtaining hope... and there is no shame in that. If it helps you, then all the more power to you. I personally don't do it, but I'm not much of a spiritual person... just an animal lover. Although I'm not spiritual, I do know that I will always have love for the animals, friends, and family members whether they are by my side, or they aren't.

  6. It depends on what she looks like. If she's really ugly, I won't be there anyway, so in that case no. If she's rather plain, I might be wishing up on a star for a better looking star next time, so in that case yes. If she's gorgeous, I won't be wishing because she'll be a wish come true.

  7. f yeah :D

i wish for the hot guys i like to like me back (:

  8. No. As a rationalist, I'm not the kind of person to believe in such nonsense!

  9. I do it. I wish on stars, and I make wishes when I blow out birthday candles or break a wishbone on Thanksgiving. I can't tell you what I wish for, because that would break the rules ;)

I don't really believe that the wishes will come true, but it makes me feel good.

  10. I don't believe that wishing on stars does anything at all. Gigantic balls of fusing hydrogen don't really care what us humans think; plus the light you see is most likely over ten thousand years old.

That doesn't mean I don't do it now and again, though.

  11. I did wish on stars..there was this guy I really liked and I wanted him to be my bf.. I wished on a star then poof a couple days later I finally had the guts to ask him out and he said yes. We've been together for 10 months now :)

  12. It's harmless if you're a kid but if you're still doing it as an adult you've got a problem with reality.

PS to Mira: There are plenty of orphaned kids waiting to be adopted by a loving family - why not yours?

  13. I don't believe..

for me, wishing stars are just meteors that enter the earth's atmosphere..

they are seen at night sky because they burn due to friction in the air

but it is not bad at all to wish on this bodies

    it makes life somewhat exciting

and it can boost hope and morale

    who knows?

  14. Fraid not. Stars are big, big, big, big fusion bombs. So wishing on them seems kinda useless. It's far more productive to do stuff rather than wish for it. As for a symbol of hope, whatever floats your boat. I just see a huge ball of fusion that supplies us with light and heat. And skin cancer.
