i see how it can get out of hand

union is pretty a gang

in corporate the hours are not negotiated

if ur in salary...you work as many hours as needed

i think there should be a contract agreement or policy regarding working hours

ur making 80k as a manager

but yet ur going to be working long hours

so someone with not as much responsibility

can make more than u

  1. back in the day a union was worth everything. Now companies have broke unions and they are nothing but a sell out.

  2. Depends upon the corporation.  Executives are not union members in corporations, e.g. Chrysler.  IBM US is not union.  Some US Federal jobs are unionized.  When the Department of Homeland Security was formed it was specifically formed to bring non-union members to the department...could not afford to have employees go "on strike" in cases of national emergency.  The role of the union in the US has changed from it's original purpose when it was formed.  Unions have not helped the automotive industry.  If you go back to what Walter Reuther did, and why they were formed the reasons were very different.

Corporate executives do work long hours.  They also are well paid.  In a global economy someone is always "awake and working"....so business never really stops.  I think we need a better balance of personal life and work...learn from the Europeans...it would improve productivity.
