* See the claim made by the head of the High court-last Thursday- to resolve the control governing party AKP, which got 47% of the votes last year!

* The muslem women are treated in the west countries (none muslem coutries) much better than in TURKEY regarding their wearings!!

* In any problem they think (in Turkey), the head of army starts to wave his stong arm against the government!,

* Even for MPs, there is no freedom of speech!

  1. Yes democracy does exist in Turkey, it is still a secular political system, however the recent law passed by the Turkish Parliament allowing the wearing of headscarves in public buildings is a little worrying.

I believe that President Gul introduced the law to allow his wife who is (apparently) a devout Muslim to continue to wear her headscarf inside official government buildings.

The military see themselves as guardians of the secular state and if the Turkish Parliament moves towards an Islamic State, then they will step in and stop it.

As far as the European Union is concerned, I doubt that they will be allowed to join as long as they still occupy the northern part of Cyprus illegally.

For my own part, I would say that it will be a very sad day for Europe if they are allowed to join the EU.

  2. How Turkey thinks it can join the European Union with it's lack of social equality ,especially re women, and it is another Muslim country.

  3. A big fat NO!! The place is a shithole.
