I was reading an article about Teixeira and Vladdy being the new " Manny and Papi," do you agree with this?

  1. When you have four great offensive sluggers it would be very difficult to say one pair is clearly better than the other.  Only time will tell how potent the Teixeira/Guerrero combination will be but right now I can't believe there are too many pitchers looking forward to facing them.

  2. okay first off phillipskid32 grow up and let it go its just a game secondly i do believe Teixeira and Guerrero to be as tough or even tougher(since Tex is a switch hitter) as the 3-4 punch Boston has had for a few years

    good observation

  3. Wow, yea I never thought about this but it seems legit.

Except Texeira and Guerrero are somewhat respected.

  4. Not yet. They are good, but Manny and Papi still can hit very well.

  5. h**l no

  6. No. They're both hitters that fit hitting 3rd in the lineup. Manny and Papi don't. But it doesn't matter since Papi's son is now owning the National League.

  7. they have 2 play together more then half a season. i think that teixaira is not going to be in a angels uniform longer then a year he will become a free agent at the end of the season and he wants a big contract unless the angels win the world series and the GM wants to keep the team together it wont happen remember k-rod is also a free agent at the end of this season as well.

  8. I think the term "Manny and Papi" refers to the fact that pitcher now have to "pick their poison". Do they pitch around Teixeira to pitch to Vlad. Or do they try and pitch to Teixeira and risk the ball being hit out of the yard In any event, the trade the Angels made shored up their glaring weakness, pitchers being able to pitch around Vlad.

  9. As an Angels fan, the idea of Teixeira and Vladdy being the new Manny and Papi sounds nice, but I just don't see it.  Teixeira is one h**l of a hitter.  I was impressed by him at the game on Monday against the Orioles in Anaheim.  He was very patient at the plate and he hit the ball hard.  Having Vlad hit behind Teixeira seems pretty good.  After Teixeira hit one that should have been a home run if not for part of the tall right field wall that extends past the seats stopping it, Vlad came up and blasted a home run to the deepest part in center field.

Unfortunately, Vladdy has NOT been that impressive this year.  He's hitting under .300 for the first time in forever, and I've seen him swing at more bad pitches this year than in year's past.  I also don't know how many of these pitches have been the first pitch of the at-bat, but it's been a lot.  A lot of these also become double play balls.

If Vladdy could get the patience of Teixeira, then MAYBE Teixeira and Vladdy could be the new Manny and Papi.  But until that happens, I don't see that combination as being one that should strike true fear into the hearts of the opposing pitchers.

  10. No way man. Tex will be gone after this season, possibly to Baltimore. He is from Severna Park MD. And played H.S. baseball at Mt. St. Joes with their silly purple unis. The Angels knew coming in that he is a rental player.

  11. who cares

  12. no i dont. nobody can replace ortiz and ramirez

  13. well... i'm an angel fan and i don't even think that!

  14. i think it is the new match made in heaven....they are gonna do what manny and ortiz did in the world series.....

  15. i think for them to qualify for this, teixeira has to stay with the angels for more than just the rest of this year, which is absolutely not a guarantee...plus, guerrero isn't like either manny or ortiz, he is a free swinger and doesn't have the obp of either of those guys, although teixeira fits the mold a little better

  16. Of all the questions in the world.....Nope

  17. Interesting, comparison, but no. Niether are as clutch as Manny or Ortiz, especially against the yanks. They'd have to beat the yanks down 3-0, for me the say that.

  18. No, I do not agree.

These two are nowhere near as feared as Ortiz and Ramirez were in their primes. Those two were both tremendous hitters, the best in baseball, and together as a righty/lefty combo even deadlier.

Those two hit in the clutch. Tex and Vlad are decent in the clutch, but nowhere near as feared as Manny/Ortiz in those spots. Ortiz and Manny have 2 rings under their belts and are proven post season heroes and clutch performers. Vlad, in his playoff appearances, has been awful thus far.

They are two good players, don't get me wrong. But a duo like Ortiz and Ramirez? No way! We might not see a duo as deadly as those two for decades!

  19. Vlad is 4 years older than Tex, and he is somewhat losing his game. So I say no.

  20. hold on, isnt Texeira white?

  21. no not even close.but with manny on the dodgers now ,its probably the best duo in the league.

  22. I think they may be even better. Both hit for avg and power consistantly, whereas Ortiz flirts with the Mendoza line half the time and Manny is distracting everyone with his stupid antics.

  23. **** manny ramirez i hate that a*****e for letting the soxx trade him as to the awnser to your question i wouldn't say so.

  24. no
