Sorry, no. "Bad" people also donate to the poor in the hope of "redeeming" their actions. So will they be called "good"?

I agree w/ nat..... even if they give money to the poor, they are still helping SOMEONE...and maybe (s)he is trying to be a better person.... also sometime there are so many people holding onto their money and belongings that not many people donating, so we need to appreciate this person anyways.

That person is good in that aspect of his personality, yes. If it's done for the right reasons, of course.

Every person has some bad in them, and I've never met anyone who I can objectively call good.

No it does not mean they are good if they give money away. It may mean that they feel good giving money away.

No.  I believe that giving donations does not make a person good!  I believe love of God and neighbor, forgiveness and charity put us on a road to.... being good.

It's like eating; when we are hungry and stuff our-self are we full?  Yes, but for how long?

Goodness is a process and we are full of ourselves at times and we are empty or complacent the others.  So if that assumption is true, then goodness flows like the sea shore; on shore and out to sea again.

So one or more actions cannot sustain goodness unless we are infinite.

I believe that we need to give thanks to anybody who attempts to help society as a whole. If you JUST give donations to the poor, at least you are doing SOMETHING. Of course it would be better if you were able to contribute in a more constructive way, building projects, food drives, education, BUT we don't all have the luxury of time or access in our lives, so monetry contributions are a fantastic start!!

People, can we start encouraging people to do good things, instead of putting people down for not contributing as much as we would like?!

well if you want to support drug habits by all means go ahead and give poor people in the street money..

i prefer to give them food at a shelter i go to one and buy them a meal it is much nicer. that way they wont knock it back like they would if you handed them food on the street. theyre in the mood for food when they show up there and they appreciate it. some have mental ilnesses and some are just poor in public housing and need a hand.
