Do you believe that black people have lower IQs on average?

Question

I have looked at numerous studies that claim that blacks have significantly lower IQs than whites. Asians have the highest IQs followed by whites, and finally blacks.

One explanation is that whites are further evolved than blacks. They left Africa and had to survive in cold temperatures. They had to learn to survive in the cold, make more advanced clothing, homes, raise families that resulted in a higher IQ.

Do you think this could be true?

where do hispanics fall under? well i kinda believe that i dont wonna sound racist but so far in all my courses blacks have underperformed...even when they tried they still didn't do well...and it was sad because they really did try ...so i dont know thats what i have seen so far

No. A lot of these studies are old ones done when more African Americans came from disadvantaged backgrounds of poverty and could have had their adult IQs reduced by cultural factors (poor education) and malnutrition as a child hindering neurological development.

Thes tests would only be valid if say you compared poor rural  Asians to poor rural Europeans and Africans and even then malnutrition and childhood illness could be a factor.

I suspect if you gave the test data a deeper look you would find the highest " IQs "  come from families where literacy is multigenerational in any race?

If your culture values literacy and you can read and write you're going to score better at tests you have to read!

Many of the ancestors of Modern AfroAmericans came from rural areas and outlaying villages.  If the slavers had been raiding and shipping out people say from the great schools of Timbuktu ... remember those slave traders were looking for people fit for manual labour not  scholars?

Most IQ tests look for high levels of maths and reasoning and pattern recognition skills.

I think I remember reading a report that said when tests were redesigned with more oral questioning  for non literate people the test scores were higher.

It is true that African Americans score a few points lower than Whites or Asians on average on IQ tests, but it is not because of lower intelligence.  It is because the items are culturally loaded, meaning that African Americans have had less exposure to some of the terms and words used in the tests, so they are at a disadvantage.  The format of testing can also be biased, meaning that the tests were developed mainly by White psychologists who designed the tests based on what would make them comfortable and allow their best performance.  Educational opportunities also play a role.  Even though IQ is supposed to measure your natural ability, those who have had a better education will score higher...so IQ scores can be changed with better education.

No: many of these studies are biased and oriented to demonstrate some kind of racial supremacy. The same concept of IQ measurement and "average IQ" of an ethnic group are today discussed as too limited and not really representative of something as complex as "intelligence" is

rrr...I literally had a s****. doo face...um i'm going to go with no....not at all. and if you are talking about the cradle theory by chek ante diop then you are incorrect as well....geez where do people get this stuff. all those exams are biased. look at the history as to why they were conceived in the first place and you will find your answer.

No it is not true. I have several friends that are in gifted classes that are black. And my IQ is 115. I am actually in gifted. So it really doesn't matter on the race. It matters if the person applies themselves to be smarter.

And no race is more ''evolved'' than the other. I know some white people that are dumb as a skunk. So again it matters if the person applies them self.
