Do you believe that ghosts can't cross water?

Shawn..If that's true...then why do they get trapped in prisons? You know that they wouldn't "choose " to stay in prison..if they could go anywhere.

of course they can cross water. and there are ghost ships(the flying dutchman is not just a ship in pirates of the carribean)its based on all the people that see the phantom ship off the coast since it sunk many yrs ago.. the question is, can a ghost cross water if it wanted too. most ghosts like to hang out in specific areas and dont bother crossing the water. i have also heard of ships that have sunk and the people that go to explore them underwater hear all kinds of moans and screams and disembodied voices, also appiritions. so i believe that, yes, gohost can cross on top of, and through water...

ghost are pretty much stuck wherever they were when they died.  It is possible for spirits to move around and water would not be anything that would stop the spirit.

If a spirit (a non-material entity by definition) even existed in the first place, why would it care what material substances were occupying the same space that it was? It's not like a ghost can get wet or drown.

What haunted ships? Nobody has ever provided any compelling evidence that houses can be haunted let alone ships.

i know it's silly to say that i learned most of what i know about the paranormal from fantasy books, but it's kind of true....

fantasy is based somewhere on fact or at least theory, or else the human mind wouldn't be able to grasp it. in one book i read, sabriel by garth nix, the Dead (basically they are ghosts in dead human bodies) can't even be NEAR running water because it reminds them too much of the chill waters of the river running through Death (well, the river is called Death).

i've heard similar references in other books.... and it would make sense, since water represents life, and ghosts are dead. i think the two in contrast would put an enormous strain on the spirit's essence and thus trap it from crossing the water.

and no, not EVERYTHING i read in fantasy books i believe, and not EVERYTHIGN i know about the paranormal is based on fantasy novels. it's just a good foundation to start, so you can then learn the actual theories.

In the real world ghosts can go where ever your imagination takes them.

hmm.. an interesting question.. i honestly dont know for  sure.. but i think they can... i dont think its a problem for them.. i think islands and ships are haunted just because spirits had bad experiences there.. or died violently there.. just like in buildings or parks.. the spirits had bad experiences there..

First of all, ghosts may exist, but they have a purpose and usually not one of harming people... you are your own person and are born with a reason... (it is upto you to wonder what that reason may be :) )

Anyway, if there is such thing as a ghost, considering the logic that it escapes most physical laws, water would certainly not be a problem... But it a lot more complicated than that... If there is holy water (or anything that contains enough faith) things may be different

There's a Lot about the Paranormal that we are just Learning about.... and don't have an Answer yet for Most of the Occurrences.  It's a given Fact that the Energy that is contained within all of us has to go to some Plane of Existence...it just doesn't go away.  

I have documented Proof that Entities DO Exist, and Manifest themselves at their Choosing....not because we want them to.  If an Entity can  "ignore" the apparent Physical "laws" as we know them...then why could not just as easily cross water?

Hi Deenie, I've heard that about witches, but nothing about ghosts. I think they can.  Ships and the like stay haunted not coz the spirits can't leave, but I think its coz they met their deaths there and they're only  haunting  those locations where they died.
