  1. first impression counts a lot because judgement is in the eye of the beholder. a person can simply look at you and decide whether or not they like you. they can be grossly misinformed, of course, since they know nothing of you and are only judging you by the way you look. when it comes to 'recruitment' (i'm guessing that you mean for a job or something) employers do want to see someone clean and healthy looking because they see that person as responsible for themselves, and that's the kind of people they want working for them.

  2. Yes, I believe that first impressions count alot, because the person doesn't know anything about you.  That first impression is the only thing to judge others by.

  3. Most human resource "experts" claim that the candidate for the position is decided in the first 15 seconds of meeting them. Others say that if they are engaged in the first few moments they look upon the candidate favorably. Either way, yes first impressions seem to be the best way to win a job. However, there is a danger in judging a book by its cover because in reality nobody on this earth knows for certain how the chosen candidate will perform 6 months down the track.
