There are 2 Q&As on here that I can't find again.(the one on invisibility...lol..that's funny!! and the one with the the pretty colors link)

I know that Jesus said (or they said he said).."Satan has blinded them so that they look and do not see." This happened to me in the past. Just because a person had a beard..I thought it was another person who looked a lot like him and had a beard. It scares me now that I was so "blinded". I think I was blinded because of "trust". Has it ever happened to any of you ? (If it hasn't, you don't need to answer. If you just want 2 points...try to at least add something to this. Thanks.)

  1. this is a bit off the topic.....

wushuboy, you dont believe in spirits , you dont believe in paranormal, but yet you talk about the bible, you talk about jesus and satan, and you are aware of this war that is going on, among the spirits of evil and good....if spirits dont exist then how on earth does even jesus still exists when he died thousands of years ago, and how can you believe in satan...arent they spirits as well....if a spirit of one or two people exists then why cannt they exist for every other person who has died.....

  3. Since you mentioned Satan and Jesus, I'll answer spiritually.

In the scriptures blindness is mentioned metaphorically, the inability to see the truth of God. Think of a physically blind person, they can not see the world around - or some see so little that sight is almost non-existant.

To many, there is a spiritual side to life - not just the physical.  Some of the things of God, (the Fruits of the Holy Spirit) are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self control There are others too:   holiness, forgiveness, blessing, eternal life, grace, joy etc., so, the blind spirit does not see the spiritual.   That's why the world, which for the most part is in darkness - is in the mess it's in.  'They' are in darkness to what really brings happiness and peace.

Spiritual blindness is something we can do to ourselves through repeatedly refusing to see the things of the spiritual world, or some believe we each have a time that we need to see a 'spiritual light'.

St. Paul when says "I came to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light."(i.e. spiritually blind people and give them spiritual sight through Jesus, who he followed)

So, the world is divided into two groups: those that are in darkness, the spiritually blind and those that have sight, the spiritually seeing.

That's the simplest explanation for what it means.

  4. Sounds like you're talking about some kind of automatic psychological association between two images or concepts that you had a hard time breaking. This is certainly not unheard of. I wouldn't call it "blinding", though the word could be used in a metaphorical sense.

  5. I am not positive what you're getting at here, but I have most definitely had instances of faulty memory.  I was positive my favorite basketball team lost to one particular team when they in fact lost to someone completely different.  I was *positive* too.  Goes to show the inaccuracy of memory.

I also don't know why you're quoting Jesus (or rather, the Bible).  What does that have to do with anything?

  6. I am more inclined to believe that "satan blinds you" is pretty figurative, and not so litteral. That is Greed, anger and jealousy block a person from being able to see the truth and connect with God on a personal level.

Yes, there is an invisible war going on, but its not a war fought with litteral swords and sheilds. Its a war fought with the mind.

Anyway, the human mind is about as evil as satan on its own.

Jesus told us to uphold the 10 commandments, and that no sinner will be allowed through the gates of heaven.

In Matthew 5 he tells us if you have hatred for another, you have committed murder in your heart. If you have lusted after someone, you have committed adultery, reguardless of whether you acted on that lust.

Anyway, to make a long story short, we are all sinners, and prone to sin, which is why we need the salvation Jesus offered us when he died on the cross. He was paying the penalty we deserve for our sins. Because he lived a life completely free of sin, he is the only one in the world who was able to do this.

If you are interested in understanding this stuff further, you can contact me. If you think im a preachy fruitcake you can ignore me.

  7. You are 'blinded' because you weren't specifically meant to know about it - would have had no relevance in your life...Nothing to do with 'Satan'; it's just your subconsciousness suggesting you don't need it in your life.
