Do you believe that quit from OPEC is the best decision for Indonesia?

yeah, i'm indonesian and i know that our country is running out of oil. with the increase of oil price, we should be happy. but unfortunately, some of our oil depot is handle by foreign people so we should pay for them. so what do u think about this? should we quit from OPEC or not? why do u think so?

  1. Indonesia has to quit OPEC -- it is not an exporting country & has not been since about 2001-02.  There is no advantage to Indon. to maintain membership.  

    As for "oil depot handled by foreign people" -- Pertamina has controlling ownership interest in everything related to the petroleum industry.  Nothing gets done without official permission of Pertamina officials.

  3. Indonesia must supply its domestic needs instead of exporting due to the pressure of OPEC.

  4. at this juncture, thats the only option left.  

    just for the records,  having worked in indonesia, its a country with tremendous resources including oil.  and oil is controlled by pertamina and the officials there have been siphoning the revenues for their own greed. corruption really is the killer of any business initiative.  more  foreign companies would come had it not been for the corruption.  the amount paid under the table is beyond anyone's  imagination!

    and the citizens suffer!
