Do you believe that standardize testing is the enemy of learning?

this is one of our motion for english debate competition. i would ask your opinion. yes or no? and why do you believe so?

  1. Yes...students spend more time learning strategies than the actual information and retaining that information for later. I know teachers who specifically spend the entire school year studying for the AP tests and not the actual class--they review old tests, take practice tests, and skim over lesser-known information (just like a crash course/review in the beginning of prep books). I also think standardize testing is (for some people) not at all a good indicator of their intelligence--some over think it too much and people who spend the entire year studying for that test probably do better than people who actually learn the subject and spend like a month to study for that test.
