  1. Absolutely...we should all vote with our checkbooks...the bigger the check we write...the bigger our support of a service

  2. Yes.That's why we have state bills and bonds every 2 years to vote on those very things.

  3. "We so have a say. We vote. We call our Congressmen."

In theory this is how the system should work.  Sadly, most elected officials follow the "party line".

Large budget spending bills should be put to a nation wide vote each year and recieve 75% of yes vote to be passed.  I realize this would slow the economy down, but than maybe we could get out of a ever growing national debt.

  4. What do you think voting is all about?

  5. Yea

Sometimes they put it to a public vote, like building a new school or road project.

Then if the public don't vote the way they want, they call it an "advisory referendum" and not "binding" and then they do what they want

  6. wait, i thought that's why i paid taxes? hmmm... guess i was wrong.

  7. We so have a say.  We vote.  We call our Congressmen.

  8. HaHaHaHa!!!!  Yes, I certainly DO believe that tax payers should have a "certain" say!!!

I actually HAVE a say, and so do YOU--it's through your DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED OFFICIALS, for whom we are allowed to vote!!!!  That is how you make your wishes known in a society about how the society's money should be spent. Do I think you should have an annual budget for that let's you opt out of supporting certain things? No, I don't. You live in a society, and you benefit from many things directly as well as indirectly. Most people are too stupid to realize the indirect benefits and too selfish to bother to investigate. That would leave us with people who don't want to support schools, once their kids are grown, even tho the strength of the school district directly impacts their property values (as well as everyone else's). We're all in this together. So, you have as much say as anyone, and that's a lot. Of course exercising that "say" obligates you to be informed. You have to bother to learn about who is running for office in your area, what they support, and bother to get to the poles to vote. If you care even more and bother even more, you can actually volunteer to campaign for the candidates who support your views. If they don't, they you get to lobby them. It's called participatory goverment. It's what the US soldiers fight and die for. If you care even more than that and want to bother even more than that, you can even run for office, yourself.

    HaHaHaHaHa!!!!   GOOD ONE!!!!!!
