or is it some new version of the Salem Witch hunts? Seems the "back story" is about the closure of a birth control clinic in the town. I can remember in my teens (mid to late1970s) when one could legally get birth control without parental consent...but now it seems harder with more conservative times?

  1. Absolutely!

  2. Yes, and as always the teen drama queen angst is so boring and receives so much attention when they need discipline and structure so much more. If my teen daughter had participated in this for any reason she would have an abortion or be sent somewhere to have it and then give it up for adoption but it would not be my responsibility.

  3. I can believe it. It's not too often you hear about that many girls getting pregnant at the same time in the same town.

  4. It's just a group of children who thought it would be "fun" to all have babies together.  What that has to do with the Salem witch trials is beyond me.

These girls were TRYING to get pregnant, so availability of birth control hardly seems relevant.

    The story:

  5. I cannot help but think that these girls did this to get attention, and are now relishing in the spotlight due to their crazy pact.

Unfortunately, they are going to get a lesson as to hard life will be for them and their children due to having kids so young.

  6. I don't hear anybody crying the girls committed any crime against their parents or society.. only statuary rape..

Each girl should spend a year in jail the baby removed to foster care until the ninnies prove they can properly care

    for their bas tard child.

  7. I think the story has been exaggerated and blown out of proportion. I'm sure some girls discussed it but somehow, the news media picked up on it and made a huge deal of it.

I also believe one thing that would help with teen pregnancy rates is to stop treating it like a crime. It is not the best thing a girl can do but it's way better than to have her steal, use drugs, or turn to prostitution.

  8. I do believe that those girls in Mass. had a pregnancy pact and I think it was extremely stupid of them. Where were the parents in all of this? How did they not know or at least suspect that their children were sexually active?

I don't think the availability of birth control is the issue. Teenagers can still get free birth control without parental consent. Furthermore, they can not only get free condoms but also, the pill, the patch, etc. Basically whatever form of birth control they want.

Obviously these girls were not seeking birth control. They wanted to get pregnant. So again, that's not the issue. The real issue is that the parents of these girls had no idea what was going on. They should have been paying more attention to their children.

  9. Where were the feminists when this happened?  These girls should've been burning their bras instead of associating with males.

  10. Yes, these ladies had a pregnancy pact. Unfortunately, they cannot see beyond today.  Once they are forced to wake up early, stay up late and not get much sleep, miss parties, buy  food and pampers if they can afford to, and care fora sick crying infant will they realize the situation that they helped create.

If some of them are lucky, the fathers, some of who are reportedly homeless, will contribute to the children's' welfare.

  11. I'm not sure to be honest. It does not seem unreasonable , cause you are right , Keeping teens on Birth Control is Hard in todays world. Birth control is a Good thing. Then Everyone wants to freak out when a teenage get pregnant. Sad sad sad ..

  12. Teenagers now could get birth control without their parents' consent. In my state at least (NJ) you can walk up to Planned Parenthood or the free clinic and get a pack of condoms. Many teenagers now can get pregnancy tests and birth control and tested for diseases without their parents knowing.

I remember when I was 16 and had to go to get my annual checkup and went with my mother. The nurse told my mom to wait outside in the waiting room! Apparently, my mom had no business knowing what was going on with me and it was supposed to help me discuss more freely about certain things.

I do think that the girls had pact. According to the nurses, they were elated when the pregnancy test was positive! One of them even had s*x with a homeless guy. It seems weird that in a town where only 4 girls per year got pregnant that suddenly there are now 17.

  13. Yes, I do believe they had a "pregnancy pact". I also think I should be shocked, but I'm not. Teenagers make stupid decisions; always have, always will.

Never heard of a "birth control clinic", but I think it's easier to get birth control than it used to be decades ago. Even though the school forbade the distribution of condoms without parental consent, it's not brain surgery to walk into a drugstore. They just chose not to do so.

I don't feel sorry for the teenagers nor the fathers, only the children.
