  1. Not in it's current levels of production, mostly because of the end-use of the chlorine produced.  For example, the plastic Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) releases dioxins when it is manufactured or burned.  Dioxins are the most toxic substances ever created by man.

    Vicinic- read the first line of my answer- not AT IT's CURRENT LEVELS of production.  Of course we need chlorine for some things like water treatment.  What we don't need are chlorinated plastics or chlorine based pesticides.


  2. lets see you live without chlorine.  Chlorine takes third world countries to industrialized sustainable countries that do not rely on others, so yes it is sustainable for human life.
