If not...then why do the government constantly seek to recruit from abroad?

The govt seek migrant workers so they can pay them cheaply but haven't considered or prepared for the other consequences.

In many ways they are hard workers who have helped to build this country so there have been financial benefits esp. for large companies.

In my opinion they need to educate the children and train the adults properly then they won't need migrants anymore.

Simple:  its cheaper.

Lets say you need an engineer.  You have two choices.

Option A) You take a British school leaver and train him.  You then offer him a secure job which he can support his family on and pay him a decent yearly salary for his training and qualifications.  You offer him all the things British Unions have fought for over the years like sick pay, holiday pay, paid overtime, fair working conditions, rights etc.

Option B) You recruit someone who is already trained and experienced from abroad.  From a country where £5.52 an hour is an unattainable dream.  He's delighted to get a chance to the come to the UK for a "better life".  You offer him £7 an hour and a temporary contract, he snaps it up - he's earning 10 times what he'd earn at home and it doesn't matter to him that the job is only temporary as he can always go home when it finishes.  He doesn't care whether he gets sick pay, paid overtime, holiday pay or the like - he's not used to getting them at home so doesn't expect them, so you can "economise" on this aspect of the job.

Now which will cost you more?  Thats right - option A).

Does that explain to you why the Government continuously recruits from abroad?

There are some but i think overall the influx is now becoming a drain on the economy.  The extra provisions in schooling healthcare and benefits etc are getting to an unprecidented amount.

I would suggest a solution would be to limit the amount of money a migrant worker can return to their own country.  Lets say they can only return 25% max of their earnings.  That is specific as any benefits accumulated eg child benefit must remain in this country.

This would increase demand in this country for goods and services as immigrant earnings would have to spent here and not in Poland etc.  It would also make England a less attractive destination for immigrant workers thus reducing the influx.

I commend this policy to the house!!

Those that are legally able to come here to work...in otherwise high paying jobs..will come here for less salaries....even though there is a law for companies to try and fill jobs with Americans..there is a loophole that allows companies to look but not hire.

They do jobs that no one else wants I watched a programme about it and the reporter stood outside job centre offering the brits £9 per hour would they take it they said yes but when they said it was picking fruit they told him to well not going to say but it began with F.

For the simple reason that the welfare state exists.  Too many Brits are reluctant to work, especially at jobs they think are demeaning.

I have no idea what the government thinks its doing be the foreigners I meet libing in London mostly cannot speak English, don't appear to have jobs, talk to their kids in their own language, and do not integrate into our way of life.  The ones that have jobs most often have them in coffee shops, on the streets, or cleaning.  This is a recipe for disaster.  THe muslim sections will be preyed upon, be taught that they are being kept in lower rung jobs when its the lack of language, knowledge and integration that is the problem.

Means test the lot, keep a maximum of 2million and provide them with language classes and ways to integrate as rapidly as possible.

We should be dictating terms to them not the other way around.  I don't know what the government is playing at.

Without migrant workers the cost of produce would more than quadruple. Why? Because I'm not going to break my back for 5 dollars an hour so you or anyone else can eat 3 dollars worth of strawberries. But, When you consider that in their home country, the average pay is like 3 pesos per hour, that would be like  33 cents an hour to us. So they are more than happy to make that jump for 33 cents to 5 dollars which translates to them to be 50 pesos. They keep half and send half home where they care for their families, or stash it for when they go back.

The economic drain comes from so called Anchor babies, where as new US citizens those infants are entitled to every other right to include social security benefits, medicaid, welfare, wic and food stamps. You can't blame the child nor the logic in circumventing our own constitution to utilize this valuable gateway for the migrant.

There are those who would say send them all home, but personally, I'd much rather charge each on a one time fee of 100 dollars and legalize them so they may all contribute to the social security benefits they are taking from Us. I'd much rather have 13 million new neighbors than 13 million new enemies.

The next step would be for the US to be more involved in the continued infrastructure build-up of Mexico and similar nations to curb the flow of immigrants.

Many real British  now cannot buy UK houses due to increased house prices caused by MMI ( Mad Mass Immigration)

Mass immigration was the stupidest incompetence  ever seen in the UK , it provides no benefit whatsoever to the real British.It is anti democratic in that most real Brits would not have allowed it given the choice.

A House of Lords committee which included an ex manager of the Bank of England have just verified  the nil benefit and increased house prices. .

A report by the Economic Affairs Committee rejected the government's argument that current record immigration levels provide economic advantages and said ministers have used "irrelevant and misleading criteria".
