Do you believe that water will ever be able to be used as a fuel in cars. (in the future)?

Well i am smart and one day i am hoping to make a car that run's on water do you think it is possible.

Yes some day. It is all ready here.

but the real problem is the 'big boys" of the oil industry will never let that happen. These guys like there money to much and will do everything to stop anything that will cut into that. I wish you good luck!

They already have Hydrogen vehicles that are almost ready for release.

Water powered as in steam powered is probably a close range of being done soon but not raw water.

I think it is possible to have water as the base source of energy for cars and other transportation vehicles.

The reason water can serve as the source is because it can be used in nuclear fusion. Scientists at the California Institute of Technology and UC Berkeley are already endeavoring to establish a power plant, which can control fusion reactions, in the Pacific Ocean off of the coast of Hawaii. A gallon of water would theoretically be able to produce enough energy through nuclear fusion to power an average car for  five years, so this line of research involving water is very promising.

Perhaps you will be the one to make this happen and to solve the energy problem.

I am sure that it will one day be possible, althought I'm not sure how.  Still, wouldn't that be going from wasting one resource to wasting another, more precious, resource?  I would personally like to see solar powered cars that can somehow store the power in their reserves for when it's night time or cloudy.  I don't think it'll ever happen though.  After the car is sold, no one makes money off of it anymore, because you can't make people pay for solar power on a regular basis, like you can fuel.  That's what's wrong with this world, everyone wants to make a buck off of everything.

They have had motors running on water for awhile. Steam engines. They also have motors that run on all kinds of other things. The news does not report on this things because BIG BROTHER has their hand DEEP in the pockets of the oil industry. There are still reportedly trillions of dollars in oil just in the US. Big Brother won't let that sit there while they are making money from it.

Fuel has to burn. Gasoline is burning inside your engine. Actual fire. Water cannot burn, so water could never be a fuel.

If it was a steam engine, with a coal fire under the boiler, you wouldn't think of replacing the coal with water would you? Water puts out fires, it doesn't fuel them. People just see liquid gasoline going into the car and seem to think that any liquid should work. They just aren't thinking about how the engine uses that liquid. This is a no brainer! It isn't rocket science. Water cannot be an energy source.

(EDIT) And water is not the fuel in a steam car or a hydrogen car. Hydrogen is the fuel in a hydrogen car. You can make hydrogen from water by using electricity, but that makes electricity the fuel, not the water. The newly discovered method of making hydrogen with water and aluminum makes the aluminum the fuel. And in a steam car the fuel is whatever you are burning to make the steam, not the water that the steam is made out of! Water alone has no energy content.

No, it cannot be done.  Hydrogen powered cars can use hydrogen produced from water (via electrolysis or steam reforming of hydrocarbons), but water is not the fuel it is simply the source of the fuel (much like plants are the source of petroleum and ethanol.  Steam cars do not use water as a fuel, only as a heat transfer medium.  They are actually fueled by something else, usually kerosene.

Why on earth would you want to use water as a Fuel for your car???  Your body needs water to sustain life and instead you want to use it to power your car?  There is already a shortage of clean drinking water in the world.  We will run out of drinking water sources before we run out of OIL.  

I'm just glad that water chemically CAN NOT be used as a fuel.

Why don't you try to develop a perpetual motion machine instead.

it would be a bad idea - water is needed for other purposes.

using food is also a bad idea - you need a naturally occurring resource - sewage is a good idea.  steam that power plants use can continue to be used for heat ect instead poured into lakes and rivers.

the stanly steam engine has already been used - cars runing on water i think has already been done like in the beginning.

to recapture pollutants and reuse it would be a good 1st step - it would call for more efficency - to release pollutants is bad.  having people compete for food and water vs food is also a bad idea.

Water might be part of the fueling system of a hydrogen-powered car, in that when you combine water with aluminum alloys it can create hydrogen which can be used to power a car.  That's still a few decades off though.  Maybe you could work on that.
