The President has softened his stance and even acknowledged the concept of global warming. Congress initiated a debate, however brief, in discussing the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act last week.

Do you think the media will factor this shift into their coverage? Could that help accelerate the momentum in seeking viable solutions?

  1. Yes. They have been getting more information.

  2. The media will support any initiative that sells their papers or gives them air time.  Their concern for practical reporting on any topic revolves around keeping people coming back for more.  I don't think your government acknowledged global warming for any reason other than to gain votes.  They know it isn't real, but if that's what some people need to hear they'll give it.  It will not help in the search for solutions, because no solutions are necessary for scams other than to get rid of them.

  3. Do not believe what you hear or see in the media they are all biased towards one political leaning or another. Some actually state what they are told to say by our political masters. The fact that senior politicians appear to go along with these theories has no reality. In fact 31000 senior scientists in the world today agree that global warming is not substantiated by the scientific facts.

  4. Man-made climate change is a lie. The media is propagating a lie.

  5. The media has always been and always will be after the story that gives them the highest ratings.  They do not care about facts, people, issues, the world.  Please do not be fooled by their "show of concern".  If it ups the ratings, it gets full coverage.  Sorry, but that is how they work.

  6. I think the media has been doing a decent job in discussing environmental issues recently.  The Discovery Channel has even launched a Planet Green channel devoted entirely to environmental shows.

So I think we're already starting to see a shift, and if our politicians start taking the issue more seriously, the media will follow suit.  Media coverage can definitely play a huge role in shifting the public's perceptions.  The more we see these issues in the media, the more people will realize that we need to address these problems ASAP.
