My boyfriend and I kind of argue it. I think the past says something about a person, it's relevant and connective to who you are and your life. He doesn't think so, he thinks anything that happens in the past is just in the past and does not matter. One topic that this relates to is alot of bad choices he made when he was young. To me I sometimes worry it says something about his character, becuase I know through out highschool I never would do anything like he did and to this day I still wouldn't so it makes me think it has to do with who you are as a person. That's just one example though. Anyway thoughts?

  1. yes your past tells everything about you, it made you who you are today. what you did before is very relevant no matter where and when you are in your life. it holds a great deal of your personality, your attitude and your whole being. it influences you with every decision that you make.

your bf probably thinks that because he might have done something in the past that he's not really proud of. something he regretted doing and would want to forget about. the past affects every bit of our behavior now, so better to deal with it soon.

  2. Yes, you're right!

The past reveals the character of the person.

The past is also a lesson that we should learn from.

We must learn from our past mistakes. And we must "change" from our past bad characters, habits and etc.

If we continue making the same mistakes like the past, then it'll become a problem.

Habits can be changed but it depends on how deep is the habits and how willing is the person to change.

But "characters" are "hard" to change. What he is right now will be what he will be in future if doesn't make the effort to change. It's like the phrase, "What you see is what you get"!

My advice for people who are looking for future spouse is, firstly to look at his/her character.

Character is the most difficult things to change as compare to all other things in life. Characters are deeply ingrained habits.

  3. Our actions always determine the future. One flap of a butterfly's wings in South America can cause a tornado in Texas (no lies). Believe me, we are ALWAYS affecting something or someone whether we know it or not.

  4. anything that you might have done in the past might reveal how you are, but some people change, and the past wont matter. what really matters is what you do from now on.

  5. Well, it kind of does matter, but it shouldn't be the only factor in a relationship. People make all kinds of mistakes and dumb decisions when they're younger, and if they learned from it, then it's a good thing. For example, if you touch a hot stove, it's going to burn your hand, and you will probably never do it again.

On the other hand, if it's a habitual problem, such as say, doing drugs, or gambling, then it is a bad thing if they still do that stuff and say they need to do it.

So in short, it does matter slightly, but unless it's still an ongoing problem, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
