  1. in times of extreme need or crisis situtaions, we all plead for and put our trust in a power a lot lot mightier than ourselves.  even the non believers. so i beleive in the saying.

  2. This saying refers more to the notion that someone is more likely to accept God if he or she is in a life-threatening situation.

I don't believe it's true. At a point when one is facing the possibility of death, it's not likely that someone will suddenly turn to a belief system that has never worked for them. They've never turned to God for comfort or solace before -- why would they change their entire belief system now? If anything, in a life-threatening situation, one would turn to the things that HAVE sustained them and comforted them during life. If that hasn't been God before, it's unlikely that it'll be God now.

  3. For most sane people there is a powerful impulse to stay alive..... one theory for your "life flashing before your eyes when you are about to die'.....is the brain is franticly searching for a way to survive.....

It is impossible, no matter how much you want to die....for you to hold your breath until you die.....the body wont let you.....it wants to live

In combat and other times when you are about to die...... even an atheist will call out the name of God if he thinks he might help him survive......

j**s..... As a combat veteran......It is easy to be "brave" in peacetime...... until an athiest meets death he really does not know how strong his religious convictions are..... and I have never seen a dying man deny God ....

Atheism is in a perverse way a testimony to God.....how can you be against that which does not exist ??

  4. If you had ever been in combat to were you were  being overran and fighting hand to hand you would know the answer.

  5. if there is in a fox hole . there soon won't be .even the nonbelievers will know God is real ...........just wait

  6. I agree with Kojak. Whether you're a combatant or just a plain street sweeper, when you're about to draw your last breath, God is all you can think of. And I hate to say this, but, you have to die to prove it.

  7. Only those that had a considerable amount of time in the battle front would be able to tell us if this is true.

But I do know that any functional atheist would deny that statement.

  8. No.  There are certainly atheists in dangerous wartime situations.

What surely is true is that some people raised with superstition will try any method they can think of, including superstitious methods, to better their chances in time of extreme crisis.  Whether this is calling on a deity, sending psychic messages of peace to the enemy, or crossing one's fingers, now is the time to try ANYTHING.
