Do you believe the west feeds propaganda about china?

i hear alot of c**p about china on the news in the US... and about tibet, but i've visited both places and have talked to the people in tibet. seems like tibet and china are making stuff up. but people are past that now and accept that its a part of china. i also see much of the stuff on tv about china that can be widely debated or i know is false. why is this so? is it because china is such a huge threat?

I don't think the west needs to make up propoganda about China. It does just fine with its own blunders on its own. China is by ALL accounts a repressive nation whose government wants the ultimate rule of all of its people with no dissent, but the full benefits of capitalism and the money it brings. Those two will eventually collide and a civil war will break out bringing the nation to it's knees. Eventually free will will win out. It always does.

China is not a safe area. I mean the Olympics have been there what two days? Already three americans dead. Why on earth should the Olympics be held there?

I think they do make some things up about China, simply because it's a country they do not understand, because of Communism.

. . . to be honest I must agree, it is definitely deliberate. There is no doubt some of China's policies are repressive, lack Human Rights, and treatment of minorities . . . . so are many other regimes supported and aided by US. So why the disproportionate coverage.

Due to Olympics China is in the center of media hype, and just like there are negatives there are a lot of positives, I've certainly learned a lot about China, great stuff, but still not covered in main stream media.

In the opening ceremony, the boy who was walking beside Yao Ming. That kid is a hero, I was very impressed! As he was the monitor it was his responsibility to look after his fellow classmates. During the earth quack he sung songs to keep them motivated, single handedly saved his fellow classmates. I was really impressed. A true hero!

No one mentions Chinas past, certainly not before Mao. No one seems to show why these Olympics are important to Chinese, what holding the Olympics means to them. How the whole country is streaming with pride.

No one mentions China's technological success, now matching and eventually will surpass Japan. The economy is booming, China has brought 400 Million people out of poverty. Standard of living is rapidly increasing. Then the difference between the West and how China perceives the world, Confucianism means there understanding and structure of society differs in many ways, in some ways very positively, the close bond they have. How Patriotism for them is doing what is best for their country and people. I will certainly import some philosophical positives from China, and our Western society can definitely benefit.

I think it's human nature to trash anything and anyone you don't understand. People are listening and believe out of fear, so rather than see for themselves if it's true, they'd much rather sit home bashing who and what they don't know. It's all about fear and if it didn't work, they would have done something different by now.

China's policies are debatable, but so are the policies of any country. People still go to war in any country, so that's a problem whether you love your country or not.

If no one is there to contradict what people say on TV, no one will know or realize that it's all propaganda. No one has the guts to show us a different side of China, and we've also learned that just because they tell you it's better and whatnot, doesn't make it true. We don't understand and this is what we will have to admit sooner or later.

sweety China is huge just like the USA.you say you know to be false.what is false in one province may be true in another.the people are past that? you mean the monks that i support in india that write about how they want to return home but can't because they are outlawed for their beliefs.

China is not a huge threat.Americans have fought china before.in every conflict between our two countries America killed 20 chinese for every American death.China has the worlds largest standing army,largely under trained.America has the ability to greatly decrease the size of that army BEFORE we send in ground troops.so the threat is minimal
