Question:

Do you believe the woman who sued Nascar will get as much as she is looking for?

I tend to believe that her allegations was true and I believe she should be compensated for wages lost and pain and suffering. However I think suing for $225 million is excessive considering that the OJ simpson case was probably the most any one got ($30 million) and that was homicide.

  1. If I had to rule for a dollar amount in the case - I would probably only give her maybe (if I believed her story/which I don't ) about a million - as the lawyers would get most of it anyway.

I did want to comment on Sally B's post - I am an AA female (atlhough I believe in putting other on my forms where it asks as I am of mixed race). If the opportunity ever came up where I could work in Nascar, I would jump at the chance - because that would be like a dream job as I have loved Nascar from the days of Neil Bonnett, Davey Allison, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Sr. etc (I grew up watching Nascar and rodeo - so I may be a little more redneck than some white people - lol ) and still love to watch Nascar to this very day. So my motivation would be to work in a sport I love (and I would'nt care what the good ol' boys thought of it - although I've been to races and never had an issue - met some nice people there in fact) - not sure what hers was - if she was familiar with Nascar before she got the job or if like Sally B said maybe she had it in mind when she applied.

Just wanted to kind of speak out and let people know that there are some AA females who would love to have a Nascar job ( and Mauricia Grant probably just ruined it for any legitimate woman of color who wants a Nascar job with her 225 million dollar lawsuit)

  2. I don't believe her. Nascar has too much at stake to tolerate any harrassment, they would have laid down the law at the very first sign of trouble. She got fired for not doing her job and wants something for nothing now. Typical to cry "prejudice" and "sexual harrassment" so one doesn't have to earn their own way. When prices go up at race tracks we can thank her. We are her welfare system.

  3. she is on my Top 10 list for most hated people. I'm pretty sure she was exaggerating. Plus she didn't really even tell the "President." She wined to him.

She's just a sensetive little girl who has just made a big blow on the financial side of NASCAR - something that wasn't good to begin with. I do not think that if she was being made fun of it was right. It was wrong. But what is also wrong is whining to the "President" instead of talking and taking her anger out with a lawsuit. Lawsuits never solve anything.

  4. I look for NASCAR to settle out of court and for a good deal less but we will likely not ever really know.

    My opinion:

    Facts:

    Woman is an African-American

NASCAR is WELL known as a white, Southern, mostly male (and often called a redneck) dominated sport

    Question:

If you were an African-American woman looking for a job, why in the world would you want to even go to work in an environment that is dominated by mostly white, Southern "good ole boys"? Could it be you were doing so in the hope that a lawsuit of sometype might be in your future? Just asking....just my opinion.

  5. Nope, just as most cases do, they will probably settle for a healthy settlement.  It is sad unlike most torts which have a cap on damages, violation of constitutional rights have no cap, so she could end up getting quite a bit of money.  I'd say 10 million, remember though the money hungry lawyers usually take up to 75% at settlement depending on their contract clause with their client.

EDIT:  I am not giving my opinion on the matter because I would like to keep my account at Yahoo and I would not like to be kicked off.  However, being in the legal field for 8 years; I have NO respect for frivolous lawsuits, which this is defiantly one of them.

  6. No way by the time the NASCAR lawyers get done she will be lucky to get a few dollars, LOL.

  7. No. I think NASCAR will fight this forever. It's convoluted on her part. In this day and age I cannot believe her allegations. Even if some mor_on exposed himself, all she had to do was report it to the police.

  8. No. I don't think she will get what she wants.  I have seen her speak a few times now and she her stories are hard to believe.  I mean if I was working at a track and they treated me like she is saying I would have #1 slapped them with a lawsuit way before now & #2 I wouldn't have lasted a week in a abusive enviroment. Why would anyone stay?

She sounds crediable but so could I especially if we are talking about 225 million dollars here, personally I think her pourch light is a flickering.

I also agree with Sally B 100%. Nicely said Sally.

  9. I agree with everyone else above me...she won't get all of that and if she gets anything it will be so that NASCAR can get on with more important issues like Racing...and not frivolous lawsuits.   NASCAR will settle...but for waaaay far less.

  10. I hope not. Whatever happened to her is wrong, but that does not warrant $225 million dollars.

  11. Why would she work in those conditions for as long as she claimed to and then wait over a year to file suit...........What a liar!!

  12. No. She's just making a point. I don't think even she expects to get that much.

  13. No, but there appears to be some merit to her complaints and accusations.  She will get a big settlement, probably in the millions.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  14. No. Even if it is true or not true she is up against too much money. NASCAR can postpone the court dates and gather information for years before she sees a court date. In that time a mysterious witness could come up and say she was provocative in what she was wearing and leave doubt in the juror's mind.  She  really holds the worst hand (so-to-speak).

After they wear her morals down before getting a court date they may offer her a small amount of go-away money which she will more than likely take. $225 million is a sign that her lawyers are trying to intimidate NASCAR and is way over the value deserved in such case. The amount being asked for kind of lets you know it is a ridiculous case.

In short... she will never get $225 million.

  15. I'll take 5 million and retire. Greed is a big factor in this and she probably won't win because of it.

  16. You shoot high then settle for a decsent chunk of change it only makes sense. Id say there is already a deal in the making cuz I havent heard anything else about it.

  17. 1st to high of a price ,what would she need that much money and 2nd if it was that bad would she wait 2 years to finaly talk

  18. she may get as much as she expects she is probably suing for atleast 10 times more than what she wants

  19. She will get about 50-75 million in an out of court settlement.....Nascar will have to give her something or you will see the NAACP, Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson protesting at every NASCAR event for the next 5 years

  20. No, the amount is ludicrous and by the time the lawyers get their blood sucking share, she'll have enough left over to attend a NASCAR race and buy a hot dog and a beer.

I don't doubt something happened but the truth is somewhere in the middle of what she says and what NASCAR says....

I mean you have to be a total moron to do what these guys are accused of in this day and time...

  21. I think she will definately get something but not 225 million.

  22. i aint heard nothing else about it

    probably gonna settle
