  1. No, the population is already too large and is growing too rapidly.  We have 6 billion people now, 9 billion by 2050.  The negative impacts we are having are growing exponentially by both economic development and by population.  Any steps we take to improve will not be able to counter these trends.  For example, if we increase recycling by 30% globally, a huge feat, the population still grows 50, and yet most products are still unable to be recycled.

  2. Those two things are incompatible, there have been studies done that say this planet can only sustainably support 2 billion people, that's less than the current populations of just 2 countries, China and India, both of which are experiencing severe pollution problems, and the human, animal and ecosystem degradation and disease that go with it, but the populations still go up at an ever increasing rate. This planet is in very deep trouble, and it's because of overpopulation, put that together with the problems with humanity in general and we are heading for a perfect storm.

  3. I really hope so

  4. Thank goodness there are environmental groups that do everything they can....

but it will be a down hill spiral. Things are going too high-tech.

mankind is wiping out or earth. Sad.

  5. humans will never learn how to live with the enviroment because we depend on what it has to offer and we take advantage of it we populate in one area and when weve exausted the recources there we move one and only 1 other living thing does that, a virus and are we a virus thats up to you

We should be less and learn how to live in a self sufficient sustainable manner whereby our own Environment can support us with out us working our way in to an Environmentally bankrupt situation

The problem is that too many people  in the cities have grown to far away from nature to understand the concept of sustainability and our planet and what dwells on it

To revert to a harmonious situation that would ensure our survival as well as every other Earthling is a very big job

And it will not happen until drastic events bring it to the attention of Humanity as a whole ,

  8. Yes, up to now, we have seriously damaged the earth, but the projects that are underway--solar cells, wind mills and wave motion, all to decrease our dependence on foreign oil-- are not tampering with the ecosystem.
