People have been saying WWIII is about to start since WWII ended.  The fact is that no nation today wants to see a war that may destroy it, because they all know that that is a probable outcome.

The drumbeat for war with Iran is definitely getting louder.

President George W Bush has told the Israeli government that he may be prepared to approve a future military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities if negotiations with Tehran break down, according to a senior Pentagon official.

Israeli fighter jets flew 1,500 kms across the Mediterranean in June this year, in a dry run for an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. Tehran has threatened to treat such a raid as a declaration of war. The Middle East braces itself for a stand-off of epic proportions.

The largest US/EU naval armada assembled since the start of Gulf War I now is taking up station just outside and inside the Persian Gulf, with significant battle groups just coming off an extensive joint military exercise timed to end just now. America never will be more ready to take on Iran, or so it thinks.

The US has announced its intention to emplace a naval blockade of Iran. That, in itself, is an act of war under international law. Never mind that Iran has done nothing to deserve this. Neither Russia nor China, strategic trading partners of Iran’s will take this lying down.

In addition, if they thought they could get away with it Pakistan would dearly avenge an Israeli nuclear strike against their brothers in Iran if it came to this with a nuke on Israel.

And all the time Zionist radicals in American media and government are ratcheting up their ‘saber rattling’.

PS This may sound anti-American but in reality it is only anti-US establishment. My sincere hope is that the US people can regain control of their destiny.

Things are very complex and dangerous at the moment. There are a lot of balls in the air (Russia-Georgia war, Israel-Iran-America standoff, Afghan war, plans to impeach Musharraf in neighbouring Pakistan, ongoing war in Iraq) and I just hope someone doesn't drop one of them. It would only take one false move - the article you quoted suggests the sinking of a US ship, but obviously an Israeli strike on Iran would be much worse - and the whole tinderbox could ignite. I am more scared than I've been in a while, but I  hope and believe that the world's presidents, politicians, generals and diplomats will make sure things don't get out of control. Why? Because the consequences would be unthinkable.

no i dont think so because god will protect us.. if we believe in him...... if god thinks something should happen...it will.......not much we can do about it exept pray...... personally i tshink god should bend fate a biit sometimes.............but only for small things like boys and family issuses..tho...

I don't believe it when it they say the conflict won't become regional. There are too many other breakaway countries that are watching this and seeing Russia make an example out of Georgia. If I were them, I would unite against a common Russian aggressor. Maybe not WW3, not yet anyway. Only if the US becomes involved and that's unlikely unless Russia just does something completely off the wall.
