We did evolve from apes.  That is the reason we have tailbones.

I don't believe there is real proof of this. Scientist live in a theoretical world and and go by what seems plausible right now. Humans will never know the full truth of how everything came to be.

When our genetics are so closely related to apes it isn't just a coincidence.  That plus we have remains of the middle species that were steps in our evolution away from the ape.
