Do you believe your bedsheets protect you during the night?

Im a 25year old scardy cat...I cant sleep with any part of my body hanging off the bed or with my feet out from under the covers.

During the day of course the logical part of my brain tells me that if an chainsaw wielding manic or ghost did attack me, my sheet is not going to protect me?

Do you ever grow out of being a big baby?

(i also cant sleep with the wardrobe or bedroom door open..I dont know why!)

  1. funny i am exactly the same way.... my door has to be shut, i cant sleep without sheets and a blanket, i dont feel safe, i also sleep with the tv on all night and when i start to fall asleep, i mute the volume.  btw, i am going to be 40 this year....

  2. I actually put part of my duvet under my feet, its a wierd comfort thing thinking that nothing can get in the bottom of my bed.

I dont think you ever just grow out of them, I think you have to grow yourself out of them!

To be honest i dont think anyone likes sleeping with the wardrobe open.

  3. With regard to sheets, I was the same 'till I hit the menopause! Then I got so hot at night that practically everything came off! I'm still the same, hardly any bedclothes, windows and doors wide open to create an air flow. I close the wardrobe so no one can see the mess inside. Enjoy snuggling under the clothes while you can!

  4. Yep! My feet always have to be tucked in and my closet door and bedroom door have to be closed. you arent a scaredy cat. or maybe i am .lol

  5. nope my bedsheets seem to want to undo by themselves so i don't think these bedsheets are their to protect us

  6. I am the same way. I used to think the bed sheet would protect me from anything at night. I feel safer still, when I'm under the covers. I'm 23 now though. I can't sleep with any doors open when I'm at home by myself. By this I mean, the bedroom door, closet door, restroom door. When I had my own apartment I would lock ALL doors and sleep under the covers, even over my head if I could. IF not, close enough to cover most of my face. lol. I'm a scardy cat too. So I know how you feel, but I also cannot explain why having the covers over me makes me feel safer. Just thought I'd share.

  7. Me too, even when it is scorchingly hot, I can't sleep unless I'm completely covered by at least a sheet - much good that will do against a chainsaw!

  8. yes i cant seem to find out why so many people always think about the sam ethings

  9. Your're lucky - you don't need to go to Thorpe park to get that adrenaline rush. Just leave your leg hanging for a few minutes.

Do you know what the difference is between sociology and psychology?

  10. Yeah I feel protected with my blankets. I have to sleep with two blankets in the winter. I have to be as close to the top of the bed as I can get without hurting my head. I wrap myself up like a tortilla and the blanket has to be over my head. I can't have any doors open in the house. I have constant nightmares of being pulled into the closet of darkness. I wish I could grow out of it but it is still here and I don't see it changing.

  11. Have you ever considered how terrifying it would be if someone really did hide under your bed?

They'd have to lay there, perfectly quietly, for hours and hours. But then, as you started to drift off to sleep, they would gently pull on the end of your sheet until it slid right off you and down to the end of your bed.

Next time you're in bed, try contemplating that situation.

You couldn't put your foot down on the floor; they'd grab it. You couldn't drop your head down and look underneath the bed for the same reason. You'd be stuck.

  12. It protects you from the cold, that's about it!! I would be the same with wardrobe / doors open, but that's just the perfectionist in me I have to know everything is in its place before I can sleep!!

  13. I read Cujo in my teens and never slept with an open wardrobe since.

I don't believe I am protected by bedclothes, but I do sleep with my back to my partner as I always feel exposed if facing in - like I would prefer to face a threat than turn my back

  14. We all have our hang ups.  You are not weird or out ot the ordinary.  If you sleep better all snuggled in and with all the doors open, so be it.  That is who you are.  If it makes you feel any better, my kid can't sleep with mirrors facing her.  She has 2 stand up ones in her room, and she faces them toward the wall at night.
