I need some opinion and examples. Politics is my worst subject so I don't have a clue on how to support my own opinion.

  1. Well now that is a good question! And yes I do think they should.

  2. of course i want my tax payer dollars going to druggies who are either to lazy to get a job or dont bother enough to get a good job

  3. Promote the general welfare is not at all the same as providing welfare. When the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution they had no thought whatever that their language would be twisted in this manner. Read the letters and opinions of James Madison, aka The Father of the Constitution and also the 4th POTUS, for more on this.

  4. responsible for the well-being of its own people, sure, in the sense of allowing, and encouraging and helping people become self-sufficient,  and supporting and helping out in hard times, get people back on their feet again.

  5. If there has to be any general welfare at all it should fall onto the states to provide a minimal amount.

  6. Well, it is in the preambe to the US Constitution.

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
