Do you bring reusable bags when you go grocery shopping? If no, why not?

Also, I'd be curious to know what fraction of the overall population uses them, if anyone knows.

i work at a super market and they suck balls to use **** those bags so much i hate them more than life its self omg **** those bags i work at a wegmens don't bring them just use plastic the world will life

yes, if I forget them I don't go shopping. I feel awful.

If we forget them, however, we take as much as we can carry in our hands and resort to bags for the rest

People are just apathetic

or they don't realize how precious the earth really is

and that resources aren't infinite

how do you clean them with out using chemicals  etc...

No. But I do save all the plastic ones from Wal Mart etc..then I put them in the trash...they go to the landfill....the landfill permits shooting of coyotes(who dig for the bags)..I buy five boxes of shells to shoot the coyotes(open season on them)...then when I'm targeted in, I'm ready for deer season...at that point I usually kill my 4 deer limit on my own land....so.....for about 60$ in shells...I load the freezer with around $1000 worth of meat(the best for you by the way)..and have enough left over to give to some people who don't have as much...I'd say those plastic bags did their job times l0 and I got rid of nasty disease carrying predators 'ta boot! Reusable bags could never accomplish this.

I've got at least a half dozen always in the back of my car - bought most of them at places like Goodwill and thrift shops for maybe a buck apiece.  We've got a local politician here running on the extinction of plastic bags - already passed on Maui.

I have them, used once. I spilled on them. Washed them, put them away and forget to take them with me.

I do not bring my own bags because those grocery store bags become my garbage bags.  Why should I bring a cloth bag to the grocery store to buy goods and then have to buy fresh plastic bags for the garbage.  My method gives those store bags a second use.

I use them for everything, I have several depending on where I'm going to shop. I have a great large nylon bag that fits into my purse for the mall, I have mess bags and cloth pull tie bags for the farmers market and those bags that look like paper bags for the grocery store.

I keep a variety in both cars.

For the most part, I just toss things into my granny-buggy (one of those wire shopping buggies) - it has a liner and keeps everything in. For the rest, I use re-usable bags.
