  1. I usually just buy the same race dolls.

  2. I don't think it really matters.Maybe it would be good to have a whole united nations in your kid's bedroom lol.

I don't have a daughter so I really have not had experience on this, but the only time  I bought a doll for my niece I always ended up with a blond haired white kid because...she has blond hair and she's white lol.

  3. When I was a little girl I received dolls that were white because they didn't make black dolls at that time. It was good then , and it is good now. The way I raised my daughters was with both. I bought them 1 black doll and 1 white doll. Both equally as adorable as the other. They now have their own daughters and they do the same with their daughters. I loved my dolls and I didn't see any reason for my daughters to not love theirs as well and they did. One of my granddaughters has every ethnic doll her mom could find, spoiled, you know. But it is a good thing and she loves her dolls!

All this to say, that there is a lesson learned here, that you can love all races, there is no difference, but to embrace different cultures and learn from them.

  4. my biracial sister and i got white dolls...

My baby will be black and i intend to buy dolls of a similar color.

Just because little girls need to identify with dolls and barbie dolls like them and other pretty things to realize that its not just white people who are pretty or who can be princesses.. etc... This may not make sense to other people. However, a lot of children of ethnicity who only get to play with/see or whatever dolls and other nice people like things with white skin do sometimes think they are inferior to white people. :) Dont wanna give kids the wrong idea!

  5. When buying a baby doll, we do tend to buy our race if available....Most of the time the baby dolls only comes white, but if given the chance to get black, hispanic we will buy that...Actually I think that kids should be able to play with doll of their color.....

  6. Well, I'm caucasian and I find that most dolls are also caucasian.

I would have no issue buying a doll of a different race... they just don't have them here.  My daughter does have some Little People figures who are of different races... I like it and I do make an attempt to get diverse figures.  Even diversity among the caucasian figures.

  7. I dont have children. But I think that one should buy there daughter dolls of every ethnicity. So that they know that people come in all colors.

  8. my sister specifically buys her daughter barbies and dolls that are different colors (she is white) My niece loves her chocolate barbies (that is what she calls them) as much as her white ones.  I think it's great!

  9. Well not in a mean way would i go NO BLACK dolls, i think whatever color you are comes naturaly. i would let my daughter pick what she wanted. If i was buying a gift yah i would stick to what color the child is? Nothing wrong with that.
