  1. It depends why they are poor, if they refuse to work or better themselves then no I do not.  If they just can't catch a break or are trying to improve their lives and are just doing it slowly then yes I think they should have all of the resources that they need.

  2. I do, but after living abroad for about 20 years I also care deeply about the poor in other countries.

The poorest of the poor in the U.S. still have opportunities that can only be dreamed of in other places - free public libraries, beautiful free public parks, and free public education to name just a few.

  3. Yes I do we feed the homeless every Saturday at the park our church does , and it's very rewarding .

  4. Yes which is why we founded Caring Hands Ministries www.caringhandsministries.com that helps ppl in need in Southern Appalachia. Please look at our web site and click through to see the things we do and for this more important the simple and inexpensive things you can do.

For the answerer who is a student, students volunteer every day to make a difference for ppl in need even an hour or 2 can help maybe reading to a child in a shelter, helping an older person by changing light bulbs they can not safely reach, sorting food in a food pantry so it can be given away.  Look at the great $1 challenge on our website and see if feeding a family or having another coke might be a better use for $1 a month or a week.

You can make a difference starting right now where you are with what you have available and if each person would do what they can wonderful changes could happen.

  5. I care. The true poor are usually the working poor. They pay taxes, bills, and still have little money for food. The welfare system will not help them because they make too much money (which is not always true.)

The welfare system is an enabler to people to sit on their butts.I have had people say I work so that they can sit and wait for their check.

Drop the welfare system! No more free lunch in the US.

  6. America has the largest number of poor and destitute in the civilized world and it is growing.

Look at New Orleans - the rich all have new homes to live in the poor are all in trailers and will be for years!!

Tent cities for those who's homes have been repossessed are growing up more reminiscent of refugee camps!!

    It surely says it all!!!

Funnily this simply does not happen in other Western countries so it is another truism about the phrase "only in America"!!!

The only way this will change is with good leadership and an honest president!

  7. Yes I do. I feel bad for people who don't have anything and I do my best to help out those in need.

  8. I think we should care more about the poor in America more than any other country. So many poor Americans are without health insurance and jobs are being outsourced to other countries. Rising costs of living and mortgages also accelerates poverty.  I'm an American and I think it's unfair that so much money is bring sent overseas and no progress is being made in the countries that is recieving it. I think the main reason one country might donate to another is if they expect to recieve something in return, like a valuable resource or something. For example, Africa: I think they have so much money from other countries but they seem to be going no where. Africa's politics and government is so unstable that it's nearly useless. I think if a country wants help they have to help themsleves first, because no on can help others if they can't help themselves.

  9. you are a good person,if i have money,i will care about the Poor. but i am still a student!
