Do you charge for service prior to the date shown?

Question

I received an email from Yahoo Wallet stating there was a problem with my payment method. I checked and the card on file is valid, I check with the card and there is no reason the charge wouldn't go through. I exited the email and then checked my account and it shows my next payment is due on 7/23/08. Was this a scam email or do you charge the card prior to the date shown? I can't find any problem with my card.
