Do you compare the olympic medal count to the overall strength of the nation?

I always do for some reason, just wanted to know if others do too.

U.S. is the strongest world power and I feel we should show it through the athletes we send to compete in the olympics.

  1. I think the Olympics should be something where athletes get together to find out how good they really are in their event. I think it is wrong for the countries to put such emphasis on medals. It should be a fun time for the athletes, not to have so much pressure put on them.


  2. of course, the stronger the nation the more resources it has to well train their athletes. i'm not so sure about the whole we won gold so we must be the strongest nation thing, but there is definitely good reason for comparing the medal count with strength of the nation.

  3. It actually has a lot of meanings to tell you the truth.
