Question:

Do you criticize the upper managers at your employer?

Where I work people are always talking about the higher ups in the company in whispers and giggles. Of course what they have to say is not so pretty. In fact the comments are profane, ugly and angry.

I wonder if the higher ups know what the rank and file are saying about them behind closed doors?

How about at your company? Are senior managers laughed at or respected?

  1. I am the senior manager at my company.  One of the reasons I am is because as I was coming up the ranks I didn't work for managers I couldn't respect and I didn't do things like talking about them behind their backs so they couldn't respect me.  I either transferred or changed companies.  If you don't respect your managers and supervisors they will not promote you and yes, we do know what's being said about us behind closed doors and by whom.  It always has a way of getting back to us.

  2. Nah, in my place, it was always the guys in the middle who we had issues with.  Those kind of people who are obsessed with power and afraid to lose it.  My manager though was very good and reasonable.

  3. People are always going to be jealous, and say things. No one is perfect, and subordinates often try to make themselves feel better, or bigger, by pointing out the flaws of their superiors.

  4. Well, I admire you in asking that question. It is very profound! Well you are an excellent guy! Thank you for asking! Good description and explanation. Very interesting question!

  5. Depends on which manager, we like the nice ones, we hate the mean ones

  6. People always find out about gossip.  The one thing about gossip is that it travels more quickly than the truth.   I recommend staying far away from gossipy co-workers.

Managers at my company are terrific and highly respected.  I couldn't ask for better.
