Or do you take them to the hair dressers?

I have a constant arguement with my chilldren about having their hair cut at home as it would cost me a small fourtune to take all 4 of them to the hairdressers.

  1. if i was a hairdresser i would, but i would take my child to a hairdresser because i could easily mess it up.

  2. We go to Great Clips.

  3. I buzz my son hair during the summer months but take him to Super Cuts during the winter.  You can sign up on the mailing lists of any of the chain family salons for discount coupons.  Or look for coupons in flyers and mailings.  I don't pay over $9 with the coupon.

If they want to go to the salon then make it a reward every other month.  Like wash the car and clean the playroom and then they get a haircut.

  4. I guess it depends on your skill with the scissors. I cut my own hair and if I had kids I would cut theirs as well. I can do a perfectly reasonable job of it so why waste the money?

If the kids really want a professional haircut maybe you could work out some sort of arrangement, perhaps they go without something else in order to afford it or maybe each one could go to the salon on their birthday.

  5. my mum used to when i was small!  i had a bob for the first 8 years of my life!!!!

  6. I think its alright to cut your children's hair when they're little and you have the basic skills to do so.

But Im sure once they grow up to certain age (like after 8 or something like that),and when they start to know what "beauty" is,they wouldn't like to have hair cut at home unless yourself are a hairdresser.

I think its lovely to do so when they're little kids. wish i had the skills though! =)))

  7. Thats right,if its all boys just buzz all 4 of them.If it's 4 girls do them a favour and take them down the salon. If you try to do it they might look like a fox has had a go at them.

  8. I usually take them out. It's a nice change. However, I usually trim the boys hair (the boys are 4, and the triplets are 2) and the little girls (twins, 8 months today!) don't have enough hair. So, 2 times a year maybe they get their hair done outside, but we trim at home.

  9. If you have some kind of floor that is not a carpet and is those wooden ones place a large chair on that floor. Then put a small tabel with all your hair cutting needs. If you have not many hair cutting instruments add more scissore and get a spray bottle and add a little water in it. Place a hot iron or hair blower with on the tabel. Then dress in casual regular clothe. Add a pin if you can. Get a tiny or medium sized tabel and put books or magazines on it. Add chairs. Use a paper and penicil to make a hair menu stating that a hair cut was how much they had to pay you. Finally call your kids and say that this time you are the hairdresser and that this is your store have them "pay" you by giving you a hug, etc

Even though I am not a parent I used to cut my nieces hair this way. She absoulutely hated having her hair cut at home. At that time I already had to cut my brother and my little sister's hait at age seven. Don't ask why. So I was pretty skilled with the scissors. To trick my niece that I was a hairdresser I used a paper and pencil and drew a fake college name congratulating me that I was an authorized beuty parlor person. My niece totally took the bait. Now she regulary comes and I don't have to set this "hairdressers" I give her waves, layers, perms, curlers, highlights and she pays me by giving me a hug

  10. can't u use clippers?  you can't mess it up with those

  11. I would make such a mess of it! I have 5 kids - 3 girls 2 boys (1 girl is way too young to have hair cut!).

I take all of mine to Toni&Guy only costs arouond £50/60 to have them all done at once. I am not a trained hairdresser so, i wont do it.

  12. We're lucky, my MIL goes to church and is good friends with a local hair dresser so she takes care of my son's haircutting needs. The hairdresser teaches Sunday school at the church so my son knows her and adores her... and because she knows us, she gives us a hefty discount! Yay!

  13. I used to. But now it's the hairdresser. Less stressful for me, and more fun for him.

  14. If they want to go to the hairdresser, please take them there. Yes, I know it will cost some extra money, but kids get to the age when it is very odd to have teir mom cutting their hair. To you it may not seem like a big deal, but I'm sure it's probaly very embaresing to them

  15. Actually yes I do and I think I'm quite good at it now, although I don't cut my teenagers hair anymore but she goes to the local college and they practice on her for free.

  16. Absolutely!

  17. hairdressers, id rather pay money than take them to school with wonky hair!

  18. I say if you can do a good job then thats awesome if not then take them to a hair dresser. With gas prices we all have to save some how.

  19. We never did

  20. I don't think my mum ever cute mine or my brother's hair (maybe she did his hair once or twice!). She often does my dad's hair but that's cause he hates the barber shop!!

  21. I can honestly say that with practise you can achieve simple cuts. I am 19 year sold and have been cutting my own hair for 6 years, there are the occasions where it goes wrong but overall its pretty good. I will tell you how much  ive saved in 6 years at £6 a hair cut (i live in england)  roughly £432.... (i vut my hair every month). I suggest you keep cutting hair, and if the little buggers disagree with it say tough lol,.

  22. I have four boys and one girl and  we also are a "at home hair cutting" family.  Now that my two oldest boys are teens, I do take them to the hair dressers for a hair cut because the stylish cuts they want, I don't trust my own abilities with.  We still cut the other two boys' and my daughter's hair at home and the reason is the same as yours. With haircuts costing $10 - $15, it can add up pretty quickly!

  23. I don't trust myself to cut her hair as I would probably mess it up! I take my daughter to the hairdressers and it costs me £3 every 6 weeks

  24. Because my son is only three, my fiance cuts his hair for him. When he wants to though, I will take him to the hairdressers and let it done there. As long as it looks decent, I see no need to take him to the hairdressers at his age - it just costs money. He doesn't mind us doing it, so I will until he says he would like to go to the hairdressers.
