A lot of people I know are adamant that they will NOT volunteer for anything!

  1. I do in the Library and I really enjoy it. I live in a small town and there is not much work in my line of work, so I volunteer

  2. Yes!  My life is richer for it, and I get to help others.

I live in Australia and I am a member of the Victorian Country Fire Authority as a volunteer fire-fighter, and also with the State Emergency Service (flood relief, trees falling on houses, that sort of thing)

I also volunteer for a local Charity, We Care International doing local relief work with poor immigrants and the mentally ill.

I used to person who had little interst in the affairs of others.  Not hate or negativity, just apathy.  And a grey and boring life it was too.  Glad God changed me!

  3. Not to toot my own horn... but yes... I think volunteer work is important.  It can be done so easily too.  It doesn't have to be at an organized establishment all the time either.  I used to mow my neighbors lawn for her... she was in her 80's and lived alone.  I did that every year for 5 years until I moved.  I volunteered at hospitals and clinics.  In our parks and for the community.  It is infectious... and I always gain more than  receive in more ways than one.  For when you are in the service of your fellow man, you are in the service of your GOD.

  4. i would love to some day =)

  5. At least 3 days a week.  Retired and this keeps me mentally alert and great way to make friends.

  6. I am not at the present, but I definitely would like to find something that helpd others and is fulfilling.

As of late I've felt the need to "give back".
