I do volunteer work because I know that I'm helping somebody and could be making there day and that makes me feel good about myself.

There are people out there that are less fortunate than us so we could take a little bit of our time to help them. Also, sometimes it can be fun.

I do voluntary environmental restoration work in an attempt to offset some of the damage done by mindless farmers and "developers" who derive short term profit from environmental exploitation.

Yes.  The reason is because Jesus asked me to.  We have to practice our faith with works or it's dead as they say.  I give to charity, I teach, i sing, i publish, and babysit.  No charge.  It's personal to me, because It really is more blessed to give.

yes i worked in a soup kitchen mon wed frid ,i didit because ppl have helped me at different times in my life i want to give back ,while serving i got the true meaning of a thank you ,i got to see the ppl for who they are ,i made alot of good friends ,ppl talked to me about thing they normally wouldnt talk about i felt like god had me there for a reason ,i have done mor volunteer work in my life than a paying job ,and very proud to have this opportunity in my life.

Yes, I am on the board of directors for a local food pantry and transitional housing charity.  I work at the food pantry 2 days a week, and donate food bi-weekly.   I do it because I was once in the position of having to live in a womens shelter and depended on food for my child and I from the food pantry and shelter.  Now that my life is more stable and I am able to give back - I love doing it.
