  1. I used to "donate" plasma twice a week.  I made $35 each time.  I did this for a few years.

  2. Every 8 weeks, becuase I'm ABneg, and my grandfather ran the local blood bank so I spent alot of time in donation center.

  3. I donate plasma, (epheresis) once a month.

The reason:  to get over my fear of needles.

  4. No. I consider my body, my temple. I'm not going to waste my precious blood and have it sucked out of me to service some others. Especially since I have no say in who gets it.

  5. I usually donate every couple months. I started donating in high school basically because you got out of class and had a nice juice and cookie break. I've continued to frequently donate since I became a nurse and have seen how invaluable blood products are. It truly saves lives and I think it is worth the small amount of time and pain. One unit of blood can save up to 4 peoples lives because whole blood after it is donated is separated into different components (like red blood cells, plasma, platelets).

  6. i do donate blood. i donate blood because when i was little i needed blood or i would die somebody out there was nice enough to donate blood. there for i lived so i give blood to give others a chance at life just like it was given to me

plus y not its a good deed its only a pinch and can help someone enjoy there life just like ur able to enjoy yours

  7. no. i was unable to do so cause i've used drugs in the past, why would i do it, to help others that are in need of it.

  8. I'm not old enough to donate yet, but fully intend to donate often as an adult. When people donate blood, lives are saved. If I can save just one life, then my contribution meant something. One person who is saved means a whole family that doesn't have to say good bye to them yet. Anything that I can give back to people has to be given, because God knows that I (and everyone else) have to depend on other people to live. Why not give back? If you are considering donating, make sure that you talk to your doctor first, and find a reputable blood bank. Make sure that you are healthy enough to give blood, and that you eat something after. Good luck! Hope this helped!

  9. I've been a donor since I was 18 (35 years ago). I started because there was a drive at college and lots of people were doing it. I hated it, but I have a rare blood type so I felt good, righteous, for donating and kept on.

Then, when I was 37, my husband (a big donor, too) had cancer that stopped his body from making blood cells. If 200+ people hadn't given blood, he would have died before the treatments ever had a chance to work. Within 18 months, he was dead, but those people's blood bought us 12 good months, months in which our sons went from 4 and 8 to 5 and 9. I drove myself last month to a donation site without any friends, family or church folks--just me--so I could donate again.
