  1. No, because drivers get too busy yakking away on their cell phone and are not paying attention to what is going on around them. I have came close to having an accident on several occasions with drivers talking on cell phones.

  2. I think you should be allowed to drive and talk but you should use a ear phone attachment.

  3. NO,NO,NO,NO,NO, Everytime something stupid happens on the highway, someone is talking on the cell phone. Are you really that important that you have to talk and try to drive at the same time?

  4. I drive a car and people should not be allowed to drive with their cell phones and if caught, they should face a steep fine of $500.00 for the first offense....

  5. it is not allowed in jersey-only hands-free-

If you are talking on the cell-phone while driving you can get a ticket if caught. Excellent law.

  6. My Statistics text book has a little article at the side about cell phone use while driving. According to this article, "Use of a cell phone was associated with a crash risk that was about four times as high as the risk when a cell phone was not used."

I don't like to gamble to begin with...

  7. We have dumbed down everything else in the driving world, why not cell phones. Some people can do it and a lot cannot. Is it fair to penalize all the people who can operate a cell phone with one hand and not look at it, because there are a number of people who cannot? Hands free is only good while talking. It still does not dial for you. Integrated phones like my Mercedes has are the future. Now that Ford has Microsoft's Sync as an option you can call a number verbally and never have to look at the phone. I think that technology will eliminate the hand held cell phone pretty quickly and it will not be an issue in the near future.

  8. Its illegal in the UK

  9. Great way to put it...in Fl. it's open season on driving and yacking...when I have to do it it always causes me to be less than safe for those few secs I am looking down...I'm an excellent driver but I've drifted into other lanes several times and was juts lucky no one was there...having said that...Yes I think you should be able to...I don't want govt telling me i can't eat and drive next...

  10. A law should be passed in all states and be enforced like seat belts. They say that people can't talk and chew gum at the same time and the saying should go for cell phones especially in cars.

  11. "NO -  NADA - NOT @ ALL" & this stupid law florida passed just 4 18 year olds is ridulous - it should cover EVERYBODY !

  12. I talk while driving but I don't seem to ever have any problems because of it.  Much of the inattentive driving problems with cell phones result from the user not being able to multitask.

If cell phone use were prohibited I would not cry either.  But then you'd have people stopping in the middle of the highway to make phone calls which would be a new problem.  Just because people can't talk on the phone while driving, doesn't mean that they're smart enough to remove their car entirely from the road, before stopping to make a call.  Trust me, people would crash as a result of having phones banned while driving, just as much as they crash now.

  13. I dont think it should be allowed.

  14. Im a truck driver and see all the time people being distracted.  I belive we will never stop cell phone use so we need to make it mandatory for hands free.  For those of you that think that the government is getting involved to much, it is the government job to be involved when it comes to public saftey.  You think you can multitask well as a truck driver so do I but that does not mean we are being safe.  Point being, your driving to get somewhere, pay attention to the task at hand, which is driving.  Not putting on makeup, eating, even smoking if you think about it.  You will soon be to where you gotta be safely, then you can talk on the phone, put makeup on and eat.  People have been in accidents for changing a radio station, spilling coffee and even talking.  Not only are you required to pay attention for yourself, you need to pay attention for others mistakes so you can react to them.  Yes I am sorry to say others out here will always make a mistake when you least expect it.  Just one second of taking your eyes off the road is a chance for someone to hit you in an intersection even if you have a green light.  Truely think about it, it could be your family member you save in that split second.

  15. No, no eating, putting on make-up, shaving, reading (seen people do this), or dancing either

  16. No, they shouldn't.  I think that people should not be allowed to use cell phones period while driving.  I say this because I am referring to not only talking on the phone while driving, but also TEXTING on the phone while driving, I have seen it!!

This hits home for me, because just two days ago, I was nearly pushed off the road by an oncoming driver who was yakking away on his phone.  He came halfway into my lane before swerving back.  When I honked at him, he had the nerve to give me the bird.  Obviously he was a jerk.  But if he wasn't yakking away, would he have done that, no.
