Like when they are boiled or cooked with chicken.

I ask because I never did, then went to live in the UK where they mostly do and after about 15 years I gave up and now I eat the peel too.

  3. If my mom washes them really good, then cooks them, yes.

  4. It varies on what people like. It's not gonna do anything to you if you do. But I don't in mashed potatoes. and I do in baked. It really just depends. Hope I helped!

  6. Supposedly, The skin is where all the vitamins are! YES, I do!

  7. An interesting question! I've honestly never known that you can eat the potatoes' skin before coming to the US. Obviously, where I grew up we never did eat the skin part. That was part of our culture. I'm from the 3rd world country-a developing country. We always either peeled or scraped off the skin for the  new ones. I still  don't like to eat the potatoes' skin and rare (medium rare) steak here in the states. Eating red (not well done) steak and the potatoes' peel was just "Too Weird"for me!  Makes me no different than animal, as well as in many cases it is not so safe for my health. However, these days I also gave up of not eating the peel completely, but I only eat at home, where I know that I cleaned them throughly, carefully where they are grilled well and most importantly the potatoes have to be "ORGANIC POTATOES". I don't like non organic potatoes, because they taste like crunched papers, no taste at all. No offense for those of you who grew up eating the peel. I have nothing to say against them. It is just matter of cultural differences.

You may also want to check below link, if you concerned about your health, since  today's potato crops receive an extremely high amount of chemicals to protect them from pests and disease and encourage faster/biggergrowth. That's all.

    Yummy ~~

  16. As a UK person I have to say we generally only eat the skins of potatoes if they're what we call New Potatoes ..... that is they're small and sweet - the skin then is very thin and when boiled and served up with some butter tastes ovely ..... otherwise we are like the rest of the world - we peel them and roast or boil them - or if they're large enough we bake them and fill them with a filler like tuna and mayo - then the skin acts as the container for the soft hot potatoe inside .....

  17. Yes, that's where lots of nutrition is.  I mostly have the skin on when the potatoes have been baked but even boiled or mashed, the skins are good.

  18. I do eat the skin, especially of a baked potato.  Sometimes, the skin is treated in such a way that it has additional flavor.  But generally, even as is, it's got a lot of vitamins and fiber.

My girlfriend does not, so when we get baked potatoes, I always get to have hers.  Mmmmm!

  19. Yes, sometimes I do. Little red potatoes and little yellow potatoes baked in slices with olive oil are good with the skins on. And potato salad looks good with the red skins in there . . .
