Do you eat from buffets?

Personally i never touch them especially when you see what goes on in the public toilets then the same person mauling all the cheese sarnies

yeah, i'm usually the first person there and then i do this thing called layering so i don't have to go back. it is simply putting filling up a plate, then putting a serviete on the top, then another layer of food, and just keep getting serviete's and layering until you think you have enough food.

You make a good point, a lot of people hardly ever wash their hands when visiting the toilet. Then there is the question of how many folk have sneezed all over the food. Dips can be very unhygienic, with people putting breadsticks in their mouths and then straight back into the dip. Lovely!

Went to a buffet last year that was held outside in summer.People where casually wafting the flies away then filling up their plates.It went on all afternoon like this,I just went hungry.

I usually don't eat there because of sanitation and I cant eat enough to justify what they cost.

As long as the restuarant is clean, including outside, bathrooms, etc.   Also depends on the type of clientele at the establishment.  I eat at a Chinese restaurant that has a lot of military people in it...its clean and every one is polite.  I won't eat at a buffett with people who aren't very clean or didn't brush there hair, etc.

There's nothing wrong with buffets.

If a restaurant is clean, their buffet will also be clean. By your argument, do you eat in restaurants? The same guy creating your veal parmigiana just took a dump twenty minutes earlier. Did he wash his hands?

I always check out the kitchens of any establishment from which I might eat.

I don't know why you pick on buffets as a particularly problematic source of hygiene problems but I have the same worries as you about prepared food in general.

I have never, in 50 years plus, seen people mauling the food as you describe - report the issue and never return! - it's disgusting and a public health issue.
