This is to allow other passengers on and off as you compact yourself patiently for your stop and your turn to exit the board.

  1. One of my favourite pastimes. I play it nearly every time I go by train. I wonder if there is any connection between this and the woeful lack of rolling stock on the railways today? :-)

  2. Lack of rolling stock? You cheeky f**ker.

Take the Metropolitian Line. Moves about 100 million people a year (if i remember correctly)

Each train can carry at any one time 1000 people.

Its not down to lack of trains. Its down to too many people using an already overcrowded underground railway infrastructure.
